What a Game . it was 0-0 for 30 mins and 1-1 for the next 5 mins and the last 10 minutes Whites had their balance steroids left to kill the game at 5-1 .
Whites had to play with 7 players for the first 10 mins as Hong Wei ( i think ) got loss . He ended up at the bukit timah football field instead and finally found the right place .
Reds were tearing the Whites apart with all their passings but thanks to the commited and discipline defense + some good goalkeeping that kept the score sheet clean .
It took just one error for Reds to capatilise on the scoring chance and they took it . Tiimmy wasted no time to score .Right after the kick off , Rajseran with his as usual long pass found Tan Wee alone and it was a soft goal , going through Cheng Poh legs.
It was all 1-1 with both sides trying to break that score . I was already prepared to see the final score 1-1 . Rajseran dropped to defense with Wink kong , Azmi to my support and Damian playing the keeps . Reds got tired and Whites activated their balance Steroids to play counter attack and took all the chances.
Wing Kong controlled the defense well and probably we would have collapsed without him.
New Comer Hong Wei started getting into the game and did some fine passes . Lynz as usual was giving all his 100% . Tan Wee and Hong Wei played well together .
Goals from Lynz , Tan Wee and Hong Wei Sealed the Victory .
Ch , Timmy , Boris , Dave H and Titus played good attacking football and with LL and Kum Kong controlling defense .
Both Teams were equal but Whites had kept their Stamina for the last 10 minutes.
One of the best Entertaining Match i have played .
I hope i got the Names Right .
As for the detailed write up , i will leave it to the rest.
LL , Azmi and Damian , Take over from here .
Hurt me with the Truth but Never Comfort me with a Lie
Sincere apologies to my white team-mates for doing the additional running while I was busy getting lost. I actually went to the big field just outside along the main road. Asked several people where is the Premier Pitch, and nobody knows!
On the game itself, I thought the Whites are going to be runover by the Reds as the Reds was moving the ball nicely and had several chances. But luckily, the Whites managed to create some decent chances as the game wore on. Agree with Raj that it was an entertaining game....
Defending for Whites, it was intimidating to have Timmy, Boris, Dave coming at you with target man Titus a physically imposing figure upfront to deal with. Dave was a constant menace on the left wing and his many runs and crosses created a lot of openings. Boris as usual made very many vital passes but was hampered by old injuries and Timmy, everytime he got the ball there was a unison of voices shouting "DONT LET HIM SHOOT!!"
Cheng Poh, Kum Kong and LL held a tight ship in defence cutting almost everything and those that did get through were easily handled by LL in goal.
To add to the excitement, CH joined a few mins later and was extremely disruptive to White's passing game with very fast interceptions. I commented to CH after the game that he seems to have come back from his injury with a vengence! Even better than before
However, KUDOs to White team as well. We had Raj in mid and attack at start and he manage to hold the attacking formation on his own. Supported ably by Tan Wee, Lynz in center and Vince on left wing, Whites managed to level at 1-1.
It was a very tight game with both Defences playing very well. Kong was excellent in defence making many vital blocks and at times looking after 2 positions at the same time and yet still managing to find the energy to make runs down the right flank.
Lynz took a couple of hard knocks for the team but still manage to score and provide the assists that led to the goals not to mention his acrobatic goal keeping skills which allowed us the breathing space needed to launch our fightback.
The last 15 mins was a MASTERSTROKE in tactical play and strategy. Raj (credit to you Bro) decided at 1-1 to come back down to marshall the defence. I have to admit that at that point I too was happy to end with a draw. One would think that taking our main attacking player back into Def would have us camped in our half for the rest of the game hanging onto the slender 1-1 draw but as it turned out, this resulted in a flurry of goals for Whites. By playing a tight defensive formation, we invited the Reds to attack and attack they did, in droves! However, Whites defended well and recapitulated on the counters. Also, by committing everything to attack, Reds began to tire.
Hong Wei suddenly broke the chains and began good runs and passes with Vince and Lynz and Tan Wee......and before you knew it, Whites were 5-1 ahead but Reds never gave up and kept attacking until the time keeper came to call the game.
We got our nuuts kicked in last 10 min.......n Raj sportingly came round after the game, spotted REDs waiting fr the ambulance n gamely shook every RED's hand saying " Good game , Good game ".........we felt it was too; oh ya, really good game .....TURF city was too small to hide , man......another 3 minutes, we would probably have been 10 - 1...phew
usually when we lose, we say its a good workout......but the lengthy descriptions kinda disallow us to do the USUAL ......n can only say ' we got LICKED good n proper '
... hong wei ... is damn shen and i wouldnt want to be in the opposite team haha
He only posted this yesterday, so I didn't know this on Sunday. Also, if Boris was carrying injuries, it would have affected the balance of the sides.
However, from the other comments on the game, it seems that Reds dominated for much of the game, and only collapsed in the last 10 minutes or so. It looks like Reds' collapse had more to do with losing the team shape when pushing forward for the win, and after they fell behind, in trying to come back into the game.
