Game started with both Jeff & Rai in goal for Reds & Whites respectively. Whites started better with excellent link up work while Reds had a missing linkman btwn the defence & our lonestar striker Mark.
Whites were terrorizing Reds' defenses & soon went 2 up with the 2nd goal coming from a long strike from midway which dipped into the goal at the last min. Whites also had a few shots hitting the posts.
With Jeff back marshalling plus Neil's industry, Whites soon pulled back 2 goals. Game became more even from 2-2, to 3-3 to 4-4 with Mark putting in a stellar Van Niesteroy performance inside the D.
John was a stablising force in Red's defense & soon we went ahead 5-4 & then 6-4. Jeff had a few trips over the ball plus White's Mike being head & shoulders over Red's Mark & Kenny - both were easily trampled over a few times.
We played slightly over time as Whites tried to catch up & towards the end it was the Whites who were controlling the game & trying to get even.
Game ended when Jeff & Rai went for the ball inside Red's D with Jeff tripping & fell facedown. An old injury kept him down for a good 5-10 min but he eventually recovered.
Cant ask for a better workout to flush the pineapple tarts and Bak Kwa out of the system and great to have Mike back for a game after so long away in HKG .. still "floats like a butterfly and hit like a 3 Ton"!
White had a more attacking lineup and controlled the earlier stages of the game but had left our scoring boots at home and were unable to convert many good opportunities in front of goal whereas Reds hit most of their goals on the quick counter attack. Red kept digging deep and held their position and discipline all game .. great defensive display from Jeff and Step C.
I think the game ended level or the odd goal apart but was fortunate that Jeff was ok (only muscle strain this morning) after getting entangled with Glenn F and fell into the fencing.
Seems like the management at Sports Planet is no longer keen to maintain the place much .. the ball kept go thro the numerous holes in the fencing thus disrupting play and even all the cushion along the side fencings are "koyak" already .. well at least the light was working last night.

I would say the line up was pretty balance and somehow penned out like what I thought it might be with red being a bit more defensive and white being more offensive with the last minute swap of melvin and stephen.
Once the reds settled in, the game plan for reds turned to a counter attacking one. A usual pattern of steph/neil/me/mark wasn't picked up by the whites and we got a couple of goals from that move.
Whites had good ball players and move pretty well, settled in quickly and got the lead. Whites was left a bit wanting on the defense and Mark were always left alone and got a few good one on ones and when mark was left with the keeper the rest is history.
Kenny got injured and played in goal for almost half the match (hope you recover soon), and yeah then me which essentially ended the game. Put my name down for tuesday and going to be optimistic on the recovery.
rajiv - can you highlight the holes in the fence problem to them, the ball does escape more frequent these days.
