Whites: Keng Loon, Clement F, Alan 5, Stan D Man, Babs, Angelo, John J Reds: Philip S, Azfar, Lester, David N, Billy F, Reza, Jamil
Billy, David and Alan all made their debut and John J returned from a recent op. I'm pretty sure none of them or any of the regulars were expecting such a crazy game.
Reds were quick off the blocks with Reza slotting in a delicate left footed chip. Reds continued to dominate taking a commanding 5-0 lead, thanks to plenty of quick passing and lots of running off the ball. Just when Reds thought that Whites would crumble, Stan D Man and Babs rallied the troops - there was a change in formation which meant that reds didnt score for the rest of the night. Slowly but surely whites started to gather momentum, blasting in long range efforts to narrow the margin and then level the score. Whites then took the lead through an unfortunate own goal from a corner and the match ended 5-6 - heartbreaking for reds who had given it their all.
David N (introduced by David T) and Billy F (introduced by Joe S) are new, and I don't know them personally, but I have got from them their standard of play. The only one I don't know at all is Keng Loon's friend Alan.
David N and Billy F have registered. Sounds like they are decent players, so I'll approve their registration.
Playing football properly is by gearing up properly....such as the importance of wearing SHIN GUARD...when u din wear SHIN GUARD and when u lost control of the ball and ur leg started to fly around and with the trailing leg, u went in for some clumsy tackle and caught my boots as I was running away from you...PLEASE do not come running complaining about footwear. It's ridiculous when u missed tackling others and swing ur leg around n got wacked at ur NO SHIN GUARD leg. Rajiv, I do know who the person that send private SMS to you. I have got knocked...and wacked many times before...I dun complain...and just play on coz I understand this is football and it's a body contact sports....my suggestion to our dear friend is to sign up for NETBALL...no offense but please be reasonable. WEAR YOUR BLOODY SHIN GUARD!
It was not an easy game to play tho, they were quick n more organize :-) we were down 3 nil in the first 10mins or so...hehehe n soon 5 nil hit us...confident hit us too but then Babs n I were thinking since already 5nil down...why not push n put more body up attacking n he dropped back to help me in defense...we only had 2 defenders, we packed our midfield n I think Babs did a brilliant job n kept us pushing n organize the whole team....credit to the effort of the whole not just myself or Babs.
On a separate issue, I think we shud avoid going at each other. Not wearing shin guard n get knocked on it...u can't blame others...it's football n why the invention of shin guard is for...more so, if not wearing shin guard n went in more a tackle, got knocked n u start blaming others....I think it's not fair. If a person really went in with high boots, studs showing...crunching tackle....yes, tht I agree. So, I think we shud stop going at each other n complain ... Move on with the game. Get over it. Everyone is here to enjoy n hv fun...at the same time, be passionate with their football. No hard feelings or what so ever tho.
Last Wednesday was a crazy match and a definitely a game of 2 half's. To be honest the Whites were chasing shadows for the opening 25-30 minutes. There was no shape, no discipline, it was like watching kids play football where 2-3 players would all chase the man with the ball, 1 pass & the reds were completely free in the gaps in midfield, whilst Stan was alone in defense with 2-3 players running at him. The reds movement & passing was terrific & hard to deal with, and they fully deserved to be 5 up. I started up front & felt I was getting no service from midfield, feeding of scraps and half chances.
But at 5 down, the Whites gathered for a chat, and we completely changed formation & tactics. The impact was immediate, and all of a sudden it was all Whites. We had 3 in midfield and they did a great job in holding their line and knowing when to support our lone striker and when to drop and assist me & Stan in defense. It was all Whites and we started reducing the lead with some good strikes. With every goal you could see the Reds confidence draining & the Whites tails were up. It was 1 way traffic & I can hardly remember to many clear chances for Reds after the tactic change. The 6th goal ultimately was a bit fortunate with a deflection/own goal from a corner but I believe you make your own luck in this game & in the end the Whites deserved it for the spirit & heart they showed in coming back from a hopeless position. Credit also to the Reds who played the best 30 minutes I have seen since I started playing GIFFA, a really fun game for all I'm sure.
No offense against you Stan, I was the one who sent Rajiv the message, but that is purely on the grounds of him as the regulator of the game in a position tweak the rules, not because I wanted to tacitly get anyone kicked out. And I am positive that you are mistaken you left an injury on my shin since it was my ankle that got kicked by your studs as I was making an attack -- not an alleged tackle that was missed. Sure I understand that football is a contact spot and it would be ludicrous to expect it to mirror a game of touch rugby, but I thought that you could exhibit a greater awareness and consideration of others who are playing around you, especially those who do not come fully padded like you are. In any case, I don't harbour any expectation of you making tackles more idoneous to a safer game of football, and it is also indeed partly my fault for not wearing the proper equipment for the game. No hard feelings though and looking forward to the game on Wednesday -- peace.
