Fergus messaged me at 5.20 pm to say he had been waiting for a cab for half an hour. I only saw it after I got home. I've suggested that in future he do a "Babs" - send a message on the WhatsApp group chat to ask if anyone can give him a lift. ....
Lynz was about, so he took Fergus' place about 15 minutes into the game.
Even without Fergus, Reds looked the stronger team from beginning to end. However, Whites defended well and always looked dangerous when they attacked.
It was 0-0 for a long time before Reds took the lead. Reds had other chances before Whites levelled. Whites then took a 2-1 lead. Reds levelled but Whites went ahead again 3-2. Reds equalised with the final kick of the game. 6.10 pm, and Sushil had to leave for dinner.
$2 credit to each of Tim T and Tan Wee as team selectors.
Actually, it was quite a let-off for Whites that Fergus didn't show....although his replacement Lynz wasn't exactly a source of relief either
Even with 7 men, I could see that Whites were going to have a tough day with Imran dictating the build up play and Lynz, always a threat. Phang and Andrew B were also comfortable holding the ball in the mid and bringing it up causing much shouting within Whites defence with "Close him down!!" and "don't let him come".
Whites lost it at midfield I think, however though Reds were the stronger team, they ought to have done better in the scoring part. Raj cut out many threatening moves from Reds incessant attacks and many White players were (for a change) asking to go into goal.....
Actually, I was under the impression that Reds were leading for some time and thought they won the match 4-3 but I will gladly take Jiv's account of a 3-3 draw. The last gasp goal - credit to Jiv who was standing right at the goal mouth and though the he didn't touch the ball that went in, his presence was enough to make me pause long enough for the ball to trickle in
Elvin scored 2 really nice goals, the 2nd of which was a blasted curler from his lethal right foot and that even when he had 3 Red defenders on him at any one time....I think Tan Wee or Edmund scored the other goal for Whites. Kai also put in a solid wingback showing for Whites yesterday.
Can't say I wasn't relieved when Sushil called time....hehehe

Hurt me with the Truth but Never Comfort me with a Lie
Damian, several Whites players thought you had won 4-3. At 3-2 up, Whites had the ball in the back of the net, but it was disallowed. Wing Kong had pushed a shot over the goal, and it bounced off the back netting back onto the pitch before rolling out over the side line. While the Reds players were waiting for the ball to be returned to the corner for the corner to be taken, Edmund took a kick in closer to the halfway line, and Elvin put the ball in the net unchallenged. Whites then re-took the corner, so it clearly cannot count.
