Everything is open to discussion. Just some considerations:
Each game has a minimum number which is 2 less than the maximum number. Currently, it is maximum 14 and minimum 12 for the games on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. If the maximum number is reduced to 12, the minimum number will be reduced to 10, so players must be willing to go ahead 5-a-side if we are short.
If we limit numbers to 12, the price per player will have to go up one or two dollars.
For the weekend games, the maximum number is 16, minimum number 14. There has been discussion on reducing the maximum number to 14, but the more experienced players prefer that we continue to allow up to 16. The lower number means more running, and less tactics. It really depends what players want.
Having different maximum and minimum numbers for the Khalsa games on Wednesday and Thursday will make it harder to get players to switch between the games when they are not available for their regular game, and the other game is short of players, which undermines the "pooling" effect, which is one of the premises of the "GIFFA System" on which this forum is based.
As any particular game becomes more popular, allowing a slightly higher maximum number gives more players an opportunity to play.
