Eh? Azmi, why don't u provide your usual overview? am beginning to feel like a serial blogger :0
Anyways, living upto its reputation, yesterdays match was quite an interesting one with major plot twists.
We started a bit late as we were waiting for Vince W to turn up but finally decided to play with 7 vs 8 with Reds 1 short and Whites having to score fm within the penalty area. Reds managed to get a player to sub 10 mins into the game and Vince arrived shortly after.
Immediately, Whites got down to business and within the first 15 mins, Reds were down 3-0 with Fred, Tim and Boris tormenting Red Def. Tan Wee disrupted the Reds passing game esp in Midfield while Azmi and Lau kept tight ship in White Def. Lau (newcomer?) elicited some deep intakes of breaths with some of his mazy runs and impressed.
Unfortunately for Reds, apart from Dave nobly and stoutly defending, the make up was more of an attacking side with Julius being the biggest target up front ....literally! and Ram and Uday in mid and attack. After Vince came, CH dropped back deep in to a left back position and most of our attacks as you can imagine were launched down the right wing where the combination of Vince and effervescent CH created many gaps there.
Notwithstanding Red's shaky start, we started to regain some lost ground at around 6-3 about 35 mins into the game and for the next 20 mins managed to turn the game around. I am not really sure what changed, but suddenly it was Whites who were on the back foot with Reds striving to draw even. To make matters worse, pressure was lifted off Reds defence when Fred moved down into a defensive position which enabled the wingbacks CH and Reza to foray up into White defensive territory.
Reds finally equalised at 7-7 and we extended the game (cos no one was coming to take our pitch anyway) for another 10 mins extra time. Though Whites had a resurgence in the last 5 mins with all out attack including combinations involving VinceC down the right wing, Azmi right and Tim, Tan Wee , Joel, Boris combos, Reds managed to soak up the heat with some good defensive play thanks to Ram dropping back to central defence and David intercepting many goal bound shots!
Because mine is not as interesting la, I'll give better writers like you or LL to report . Very much agree with the view, once fred went back to defend we lost bite in attack. Beginning was tight, Tim and Lau were excellent in defence. Attacking players caused trouble for reds but we lost shape somehow and gave reds opportunity to catch up. Ram was pulling strings for reds attack and they wasted no chance to level. Damian spoilt the game however when he wanted to go off while both teams were trying to look for the winning goal. Kidding! Overall a good game and fair result.
Haha no worries Azmi Sorry guys had to run cos had to attend a wedding at 7pm, also I guess it my haste was justified the way the Whites were in an attacking frenzy hehehe....in any case, we had extra time for 10-15mins already so fair result.
