Further to the post above, the game on the first day of Chinese New Year (Tuesday, 5 Feb 2019) was switched to the usual game on a small pitch at Rainforest, but finally cancelled. The game on the second day of Chinese New Year (Wednesday, 6 Feb 2019) went ahead as scheduled in the evening on a big pitch at Grandstand, as a sort of team match. For the public holidays since CNY:
- The game on Vesak Day (Sunday, 19 May 2019) was cancelled as we were stuck on 10. Monday (20 May 2019) was a public holiday, but the usual Monday game went ahead at Macpherson, albeit at an earlier time slot (6 to 7 pm), as the usual time slot was not available. The extra game on Monday evening on a big pitch at Grandstand was cancelled (stuck on 9). The Saturday game on the eve (18 May 2019) was unaffected.
I try to see if there is a pattern. I think games that are on a public holiday or the eve of a public holiday that is widely celebrated are likely to be cancelled. For games on the eve of public holidays that are not widely celebrated, the game on the eve is likely to be cancelled if the eve is a working day, but likely to go on if the eve is a weekend. Obviously, less popular games are more likely to be cancelled than popular games. We are now in the June school holidays, and players with children are more likely to be away. We have only had 13 games so far this month. A dip in numbers in June has become a regular pattern.

Two public holidays next weekend, National Day on Friday, 9 August 2019, and Hari Raya Haji on Sunday, 11 August 2019. Monday is also a public holiday for the public holiday falling on Sunday. With the regular Sunday evening game now at Khalsa, and the regular Thursday night game on a 5 or 6-a-side pitch at Grandstand, we only have one game a week on the big covered pitch at the Grandstand, on Saturday evenings. As such, going forward, on public holidays, I will schedule an evening game on the big covered pitch at Grandstand either in addition to any regular game on that day, or in place of it. However if the public holiday is on a Sunday, the Grandstand game will be on the public holiday on Monday, so that it is better spaced from the popular Saturday evening game. The knock-on effects are that the Tuesday game will be at Macpherson, and only the Thursday game at Grandstand. From 8 to 15 August 2019, the games will be: - Thursday, 8 Aug 2019, 9 to 10 pm, Grandstand, 5 or 6-a-side.
- Friday, 9 Aug 2019 (National Day), 5 to 6 pm, Grandstand, 8-a-side (covered).
- Saturday, 10 Aug 2019, 5 to 6 pm, Grandstand , 8-a-side (covered).
- Sunday, 11 Aug 2019, 5 to 6 pm, Khalsa, 7-a-side (uncovered).
- Monday, 12 Aug 2019, 5 to 6 pm, Grandstand, 8-a-side (covered).
- Tuesday, 13 Aug 2019, 9 to 10 pm, Macpherson, 7-a-side.
- Wednesday, 14 Aug 2019, 9 to 10 pm, Khalsa, 7-a-side.
- Thursday, 15 Aug 2019, 9 to 10 pm, Grandstand, 5 or 6-a-side.
As the Tuesday night game at Macpherson is in lieu of the usual Monday night game at Macpherson, for this week, it will be treated as the Monday night game for purposes of priority for the following Monday's game. Everyone who puts their names down for the extra games at the Grandstand on 9 and 12 Aug 2019 will have priority in the first 24 hours for the Grandstand game on Saturday, 17 Aug 2019. The normal schedule resumes on 17 Aug 2019.

From the "Weekly schedule & number of games" thread: .... Therefore, from September 2019 onwards, the routine games will be as follows: - Saturdays, 4.50 pm to 6.00 pm, 8-a-side, at Premier Pitch @ Grandstand (big covered pitch).
- Sundays, 3.50 pm to 5.00 pm, 8-a-side, at Premier Pitch @ Grandstand (big covered pitch).
- Mondays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, 7-a-side, at HYFA @ Macpherson (7-a-side uncovred pitch).
- Tuesdays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, 6-a-side, at Rainforest @ Grandstand (6-a-side uncovered pitch).
- Wednesdays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, 7-a-side, at Premier Pitch @ Khalsa, (7-a-side uncovered pitch).
- Thursdays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, 7-a-side, at HYFA @ Macpherson (7-a-side uncovered pitch).
Additionally, there will be the following rolling games:
- Saturdays, 4.50 pm to 6.00 pm, 7-a-side, at Premier Pitch @ Khalsa, (7-a-side uncovered pitch), rolling over to Sundays, same time, same venue, if the Saturday game does not look likely to go ahead.
- Mondays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, 6-a-side, at the Arena @ Woodleigh Park (smallish 7-a-side uncovered pitch), rolling over to Tuesdays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, if the Monday game does not look likely to go ahead.
- Fridays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, 6-a-side, at the Arena @ Woodleigh Park (smallish 7-a-side uncovered pitch), rolling over to Saturdays, 8.50 pm to 10.00 pm, if the Friday game does not look likely to go ahead.
Each rolling game, covering two consecutive days, is one game. If the first day's game goes ahead, there will be no game on the second day. If a rolling game is slow-filling, players who commit to either day's game will have priority in the 7 days commencing with the day of the game(s) to which they commit.
If no names are put down for either of the two days, the same schedule thread will be rolled over to the following week, provided the first of the two days is within the same calendar month.
....
However, there are several seasonal factors at play in early September, including:
- As Singapore increasingly follows an international calendar, a lot of people are away in late "summer", until the first week of September.
- The Singapore school holidays are in the coming week (7 to 15 September 2019), so a lot of those who are parents might be away.
In any event, numbers are down last week and this week. Further, the Saturday fixed game at the Grandstand this week (7 Sep 2019) has been converted to a challenge match.
In the circumstances, I won't roll over the rolling games (including those scheduled this Friday night (6 Sep 2019) at Woodleigh Park and this Saturday evening (7 Sep 2019) at Khalsa) until 16 Sep 2019. As there are fixed games on Monday and Tuesday, I also won't schedule the rolling game for Monday/Tuesday at Arena @ Woodleigh Park, until then (16 Sep 2019).
As 28 Oct 2019 (Monday) is a public holiday (for Deepavali, which falls on Sunday, 27 Oct 2019), further to the post above, even though the Sunday evening game on a big covered pitch at Grandstand has been reinstated, I will schedule an extra 8-a-side game on the covered pitch at Grandstand that (Monday) evening. I will decide closer to the date whether to schedule the usual fixed game at night at Macpherson.

There will be no games on Christmas eve (Tuesday, 24 Dec 2019) and New Year's eve (Tuesday, 31 Dec 2019). I will schedule the usual Wednesday night games at Khalsa on Christmas (25 Dec 2019) and New Year's Day (1 Jan 2020) but they will be cancelled if they are slow to fill up, they will be cancelled. The procedures on slow filling games may not apply.
Chinese New Year falls on Saturday and Sunday (25 and 26 Jan 2020), with the Monday (27 Jan 2020) a public holiday in lieu of the Chinese New Year falling on Sunday. I will not schedule any games on the eve of Chinese New Year (24 Jan 2020) or the first day of Chinese New Year (the Saturday). I will schedule the Sunday evening game at Grandstand as usual. The regular slots on Saturday (evening games at Grandstand and Khalsa) will be moved to the Monday, but I will not schedule the usual Monday night game at Macpherson that day (27 Jan 2020).
