After being stuck at 12 for a while (which would mean switching to the small pitch), we finally scrapped together 14 to stick it out on the big pitch.
Whites looked stronger from the start, but were gifted two quick goals:
* My kick out of goal was intercepted by Nawal who finished through my legs.
* Raminder got caught in possession in the D by Boris, who finished sharply.
Reds improved after their poor start, and had a fair amount of possession but Whites continued to look sharper, extending their lead to 5-0 after 25 minutes. Nawal then swapped with Ken.
Whites promptly scored first again. Reds now were having more of the possession but despite the trickery of Raminder, Nawal and Sivaraj, Reds could not break through the Whites defence. In fact, Whites extended their lead to 4-0, and hit the frame of the goal several times.
Fleet footwork and interchange of short passes between Raminder Nawal and Sivaraj was getting past one or two Whites defenders, but Elvin was doing an excellent job of sweeping up behind them. Whites were defending very deep to counter the triple threat. Elvin also managed to make a couple of good saves when he was in goal, and came forward a few times to create excellent chances for Whites.
Reds finally scored late on. They actually grabbed two, but Reds still managed one more (and a couple more off the frame of the goal) to win the second leg 5-2.
Whites having the extra man in defence made all the difference in the second leg. They were able to nullify most of Reds attacks, and when they pushed forward, they were able to get the extra man forward quickly, creating several good chances, taking a few, but missing several others.
Having two new players and a couple others who hadn't played for a while was a significant factor.
