All the games at Sports Planet have been paid in advance. If everyone playing has also prepaid, I do not need to turn up to collect payment. I will only turn up to collect from those who have not prepaid.
As numbers for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have been roughly equal, I'll treat all three games the same from next week onwards.
More than 48 hours before the game, anyone who hasn't prepaid can only be in reserve. If 48 hours before the game, there are still places left, those in reserve will fill up the remaining places, in chronological order.
If having prepaid, you have to withdraw, your payment will be held as deposit for the next time you put your name down, which means you will be considered to have prepaid that next time.
The prepayments received and usage of prepayments in January 2011 has been archived here.
From now on, on the 1st of each month, I will archive the preceding month's details in a thread entitled the current month on the "Prepayment Information" board.
You can provide details of all payments you make in the current month's thread rather than SMSing me. I will look out for each payment and update the Excel spreadsheet showing the current balances. The spreadsheet can be downloaded from the "Current Balances" page.
The system (applicable to the 7-a-side pitch at Sports Planet only) is as follows:
* At a cut-off (currently 48 hours before game), those who prepay will have priority for the first 14 places over those who don't prepay. It will suffice that you confirm by then that you have made payment, even if I have not received it yet. * If there are any withdrawals within 48 hours of the game, any reserve who has prepaid will have priority. * After priority for prepayment as above, the next criteria is the usual chronological one. * I am currently not making any deductions for withdrawals even if very late.
The main advantage of prepayment is that if everyone playing prepays, I don't have to go down to collect.
This modifications will apply from next week onwards.
For tomorrow, the first 13 players have prepaid, the 14h player has not, while the reserve has credit available. I will not be present to collect, so hopefully, the 14th player manages to pay by one of the modes provided.
As stated above, I looked at the position 48 hours before the game. If you are still in at that time, I won't bump you later. The reserve only put his name in after that.
.... I might reduce the period to 36 hours in future, so that the risk of being bumped for not prepaying is greater. Also, if you end up owing for a game after playing, I might require that I am present before you can take a place in a game that requires prepayment.
The system is simple. If it gets complicated, it arises out of not working within the system.
For interbank transfers (via ATM or internet), I am using a UOB account to receive payment. While transfers from a UOB account will be instantaneous, transfers from other banks may take 2 to 3 days to be received.
As a lot of people have a DBS/POSB account, I have added my personal POSB bank account as an alternative, so that transfers from DBS/POSB accounts to my personal account will also be instantaneous. I can transfer the funds received in my POSB account to the UOB account later.
As I won't be checking my POSB account as regularly, if you make a transfer to my POSB account, add a post to the current payment information thread, so that I know to look out for it.
If this is a prepaid game then count me out since i haven done any prepayments... thanks !
If you're in at the cut-off (currently 48 hours before the game), you won't later be bumped even if you don't prepay.
If it's not more than 2 players who have not prepaid, I won't come down (unless I am playing), and they can owe me. Alternatively, if any of the other players who have sufficient credit are generous enough, they can let you use their credit, and you can pay them the amount due.
As all games will be moving that way, I hope everyone will at least try to prepay (currently for Sports Planet games only). If you can't prepay, it's alright - either I'll be there to collect, or you can owe me. Do let me know what the difficulty is though.
Before the game, Julius informed me that David M had informed him that he couldn't make the game as he was on call, and that he had asked David to inform me, but he hadn't. Anyway, David M didn't turn up.
Dhiraj and Kevin K2 were playing in the earlier game on the big pitch. I asked them if they would like to play, and Dhiraj agreed to play, so he joined whites. As Dhiraj filled in at the venue itself, and as much as a favour to me as actually wanting to play, he plays for free.
If there is a withdrawal, and we can't get a replacement, try to find a player at the venue itself. Anyone who fills in at the venue itself plays for free.
It works best with prepayment, for with prepayment the amount that those who actually turn up have to pay is unaffected.
Without prepayment, the cost of the pitch is divided by those who turn up, and with one less player, the amount paid by the the rest is higher.
Although Rai and Sufian have prepaid, I'm not going to bump any of the eight who haven't prepaid, for even though they haven't prepaid, they were already in after the 48 hour cut off. Looking forward, I will reduce the cut off, which gives everyone more time to prepay, but also increases the chances of those who haven't prepaid being bumped by someone who has.
Further prepayments received in February 2011 will be added below. You can do so yourself when you pay, or else I will do so when payment is received.
As I won't be checking the accounts as often as I was when prepayment was first introduced, from this month onwards, when you make payment to either bank account, it is better that you post on the current month's thread the amount and bank account payment was made to, so that I know to look out for it.
The current balances spreadsheet is updated to the date stated in the current month's thread. Subsequent payments are only reflected on the current month's thread until the spreadsheet is next updated.
As has been stated on the "Current Balances" page for some time now, the spreadsheet is usually updated after a game requiring prepayment.
Once the preceding month's spreadsheet is archived on the message board, the Proboards set-up does not allow me to further amend the document. That is why the current balances spreadsheet is uploaded on to my own webspace.
I have simplified the "Payment modes" page by removing the description of the priority system. This is in any event set out in the schedule thread for each game requiring prepayment.
For the first two months of prepayment, I had a separate column showing one player using his credit to pay for another. From this month onwards, this column will only be used if the player whose credit is being used is not playing in the game. If the player is playing, the deduction will be shown in the game column itself.
While discussing payment through Paypal with Dhiraj and Murray tonight, I came to understand that when you pay from a non-Singapore dollar account, you have a choice as to whether to bear Paypal's fees yourself or have it deducted from the payment to be received by me. If you make payment to my business account, the default is a business payment, which deducts the fee from the payment to be received by me, in which case I will refund the payment. To bear the payment yourself, you need to choose the personal payment option, and choose the option of bearing the fee yourself.
I believe the alternative is to make payment to my personal Paypal account, where the default should be for the payer to bear the fee. I believe it is the same as the fee referred to above - 3.4% + $0.50.
Justin SMSed to say that Andre paid him $10 tonight, so I have deducted Andre's payment from Justin's credit.
If any player allows another to use his credit, I have no misgivings about the former collecting a bit extra (say $11) from the latter. After all, in allowing another to use your credit, you're providing them with a service.
