This thread currently deals with the above subject matter. Announcements and developments relating to the subject matter are posted below. Go to the last page (by clicking the largest number to the left of "NEXT >>" above) for the latest announcement/development. As the subject matter has been modified from time to time, as described in various posts below, any given post may not fall squarely within the subject matter. As at 17 February 2014, this first post on this thread was: An update on player polls: We only had 6 player polls and 5 votes in February 2011. From now on, when I put up the poll, I will change the following: * Allow each member three votes instead of one. * Set the poll to lock automatically after 7 days. I wonder if one of the reasons players don't vote is that it may be difficult to choose one player over everyone else. Hopefully, by allowing 3 votes, more members will vote. As stated previously, although any member can vote, I trust only those who played, or were present at the game, will vote. By setting the poll to lock automatically after 7 days, I don't have to go back to the thread later to lock the poll. However, if anyone wants to vote after the poll is locked, just post on the thread, and I will re-open the poll. Anyone else putting up a report thread with a player poll included may wish to do the same.

1 vote. I didn't know Yaseen was watching the game. and Scandalous. The Man of the Match voting was bought. Just like the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. As I said before: .... I can see who voted, not how they voted. .... .... Of course, if I follow the voting one vote at I time, I can see who voted next, and where that vote went, so I can infer how that member voted. As stated above, I trust only those who played, or were present at the game, will vote. I will ignore the vote of anyone who neither played nor were present at the game. I will assume a member who was not playing was present at the game if he adds a sensible first-hand comment about what happened at the game.

Only 1 valid vote in May, for Lynz. Even I haven't been voting. Only 3 votes in March and no votes in April. Nevertheless, I will continue to include the player poll for games in which I play.

.... After each game, any registered member can put up a thread about the game on the Reports board, including a player poll. Apart from Azmi (and occasionally Rajseran) putting up the thread for the Sunday game, I usually end up doing so the day after the game, even if I did not play in the game. From next month onwards, I will wait an extra day before putting up the report thread for games in which I did not play, to allow any registered member more time to do so. If the thread has not been put up by the second day after the game, I will do so, but I will not include a poll for games in which I was not playing. .... Sometimes, after a game, a player adds a comment about the game on the schedule thread. I will move the comment to a new thread on the Reports board, and add a post for the line ups and any other relevant information. This has happened several times. Other players are free to add their comments on the report threads, however created. Even if there is no player poll, from next month onwards, if a player names in his comment one to three players who played particularly well, I will treat the comment as votes for the players named. As this thread now covers both player polls and report threads, I have renamed the thread accordingly.

.... Each week, at least couple of our games have no comments. To add an incentive for at least one person to provide a comment, with effect from today's game, the first player (excluding me) to provide a comment by the day after the game of at least 30 words (excluding quotes of previous posts and line ups), with the result (not necessarily the exact score) also provided, will be given a credit of $2. Since the start of July 2011, the following (excluding myself) have been the first to provide a report/comment on the game: * 2 July 2011, Rainer (59 words) * 3 July 2011, Damian (289 words) * 10 July 2011, Azmi (37 words) * 11 July 2011, Damian (427 words). * 12 July 2011, Gilbert L (18 words). * 13 July 2011, Rainer (60 words). * 17 July 2011, Damian (405 words) * 19 July 2011, Jamie (52 words). * 20 July 2011, Rainer (67 words). * 21 July 2011, David T (128 words). * 23 July 2011, Reza (38 words). * 24 July 2011, Rainer (85 words). * 26 July 2011, David T (26 words). * 27 July 2011, Fai (102 words). * 28 July 2011, Rainer (72 words). * 31 July 2011, Azmi (176 words). * 2 August 2011, Kelvin Au (2 words). * 3 August 2011, Fai (154 words). * 4 August 2011, Rainer (101 words). Getting to 30 words is easy.

I've credited $2 to each of the following for their reports over the past week: * 6 August 2011, Rainer. * 7 August 2011, Damian. * 10 August 2011, Rainer. * 11 August 2011, David T. Apart from Damian, who posted on the thread I started, each of the others was posted under the schedule thread, and I moved the post to a new report thread. It would be good if players tried starting a thread themselves. The games scheduled for 8 and 9 August 2011 were cancelled due to lack of players over the National Day period.

The last few for August 2011: * 27 August 2011, Rajseran. * 28 August 2011, no one. * 29 August 2011, no one. * 30 August 2011, Foo Cheong. As stated above, from this month onward, the listing will be posted under the current month's thread on the "Payment Information" board. .... I'll credit each of the above $2 as at the day after the game. .... As the credit for the game on 31 August 2011 is given on 1 September 2011, it will be under current month's thread on the "Payment Information" board. In future, I will list the credit by the date it is given, not the date of the game, as has been the case above.

If no one gets round to it by the day after the game, I won't even bother with the 30 word requirement. 5 or 6 first reports is equivalent to a free game. Rainer has already gotten a couple of "free games".

Likewise, there must be something in the comments that commend the player(s) named. I'm more likely to construe a mention of just one name in the report as commending the player. If more players are mentioned, I am less likely to. For example: .... Reds held up well with Imran constant pressuring in Whites half with Stan, Bobby and Angelo holding the backline. .... Doesn't say much about their contribution relative to the other 10 players on the pitch. Anyway, that's 4 players named, more than the maximum of 3.

On a thread on the "Reports" board: .... ... this is not a report but just my comment on the game. .... .... It doesn't have to be a report, any post-match comment will do. Not does it give those who didn't play in that game an idea of what happened, it helps with future line ups. .... I'll rename the "Reports" board as "Post-Game Reports & Comments".

No obligation to add post-match comments though. .... The reports/comments board and the General category are intended to give everyone an opportunity to discuss our games and other stuff on the message board, at their convenience. .... I try to encourage players to do so, as the more players do so, the more other players will do. A snowball effect - albeit a slow moving snowball. .... Encouragement includes the $2 credit for a first report. At a practical level: * It helps with getting to know each other better, which in turn helps with communication and team organization. * Filling places.

I've been crediting $2 to every player who is the first to post a report or post-game comment on a game, as long as it provides some basic details, such as which side won, and the balance of play. In Reza's first report on the game on Monday: .... Rajiv- as the $2 is designed to encourage more comments etc, i'm happy for it to be rolled over to the next poster on this thread. My reply: Thanks Reza. .... If anyone else comments, I'll let them have the credit, if not, I'll give it to you. Even if no one else comments, others still read the reports/comments, and have a better sense of what each game is like. It also helps me with future line ups. Further, today on the "Line Ups" thread: .... It would be interesting to put up a poll when the line-ups are announced. It may be a simple 2-choice (Balanced, Unbalanced) poll or it may be a more complicated poll on prediction of outcome (Draw, Narrow win (Whites), Big win (Whites)). .... .... as for foo cheng's suggestion - i think it is good for informational value and an effective way for you to gather info for future line ups. ...t you may consider that in future line ups if the post match report confirms the vote. Currently, if no one else adds a post-game report or comment before then, I put up a thread two days after the game, in the morning. If I did not play in the game, it is a bare thread, inviting others to comment. Either way, I point out that the first to add a report or comment will be credited $2. The schedule thread for the following week's game is put up immediately after, and in any event, 5 days before that game. To encourage post-game comments, if no one has commented when the schedule thread for the following week's game is due, I may delay it by one day, that is, in the morning, 4 days before the game. Further, for the month of December 2011, I will reserve a place for everyone who adds a post-game report or comment before the schedule thread for the following week's game is put up, and states in their report or comment that they are in for the following week. The first person to report or comment will continue to be credited $2. As has been pointed out repeatedly, reports and comments are useful for future line ups.

The consensus seems to be that Yip Weng got it wrong (Whites 5 Reds 2) and Damian got it right (Whites 9 Reds 1). On this occasion, I'll split the $2 credit between Yip Weng (for being first) and Damian (for being accurate) - $1 each. In future, if the first report is way off, I'll give the $2 credit to the next one.

As set out above, there were barely any votes in the player polls in the first half of the year. .... Even if there is no player poll, from next month onwards, if a player names in his comment one to three players who played particularly well, I will treat the comment as votes for the players named. .... The total number of "votes" in the second half of the year so far: * July 2011, 9* August 2011, 6* September 2011, 7* October 2011, 23* November 2011, 23I'm still the only one adding player polls with my reports. Most of the "votes" are in fact from reports and comments, which I collate from the report threads. The following month, I collate the total number of votes per player, and list players by an adjusted average. All too much work for me, for little benefit. I may do one final collation for December 2011, but I won't be doing any more from next year onwards. It is up to individual players doing the first report whether they want to include a player poll, or any poll relating to the game that was played. Lester tried doing a humorous one a couple of weeks ago. In order to add a poll, you must have started the thread. As the poll need no longer be limited to player polls, but should still relate to the game that was played, and in keeping with the change in name of the reports board, I'll change the subject of this thread to "Post-game reports & polls". It also distinguishes the poll from the pre-game prediction poll. With a $2 credit for a first report, the number of players doing reports or providing comments has increased, and several of them actually start the thread themselves.
