This thread currently deals with the above subject matter. Announcements and developments relating to the subject matter are posted below. Go to the last page (by clicking the largest number to the left of "NEXT >>" above) for the latest announcement/development. As the subject matter has been modified from time to time, as described in various posts below, any given post may not fall squarely within the subject matter. As at 17 February 2014, this first post on this thread was: For the reasons set out here: * From 11 July 2010 onwards, you will have to be registered as a member and logged in to put your name down for a game on the “Schedule” board.
* Up to now, anyone could register as a member. With immediate effect, I will need to approve new members. For now, everyone who has played in a game before will be approved, so please register as soon as you can. We’ve had at least 299 players since September 2008, but currently only 64 players who have registered on the message board.
* Registered members can continue to put names down for others, including non-members/guests. I can’t say how long beyond 11 July 2010 this will continue., but at least until the end of July.
* You can continue to post as a guest on the other boards (Reports, Monthly Round Up, Player Lists and Queries, Suggestions, Information & Chat. You can also start a thread on Queries etc as a guest.
The advantages of registering are also that: * You don’t have to tick the box to agree to ProBoards Terms of Service and fill in the security check each time you post. * When you are logged in, there is a “Quick Reply” box at the bottom of each thread that makes adding a post faster.

From 11 July 2010 onwards, you will have to be registered and logged in to put your name down for a game on the Schedule board. Registered members can continue to put names down for guests for the foreseeable future. After you register, you will get an activation e-mail. Please remember to activate your membership. I now have to approve new members. For now, I will approve everyone who has played before. If you have problems registering or logging in, feel free to post them below. You can do so as a guest. I, or anyone else who is able to help, will try to assist. (Note: Originally called "Problems registering or logging in")

There is now a ProBoards app for iPhone. Click on the link to download it. It should make it easier to put your name down for or withdraw from a game via your iPhone.

I'll extend the deadline to 31 July 2010. After that, those who are not registered and logged in will not be able to put their names down for a game on the Schedule Board, although they can continue to ask a registered member to put their name down for them, and post as guests on other boards.
Guests can even start a thread on the Queries, Suggestions & Chat board.
Anyone who has played before can continue to register as a member even after 31 July 2010.

I have changed the settings so that you have to be registered and logged in to put your name down for a game on the Schedule board. Unfortunately, the ProBoards app for iPhone is not available from the Singapore store. However, I understand it is available from both the US and Australia stores. Everyone who registers is now a "Participant" (in place of the old ranking). However, the number of stars will continue to be based on the number of posts, as follows: * 60 or more posts – 5 red stars. * 25 or more posts – 3 blue stars. * 10 or more posts – 2 green stars. * 3 or more posts - 1 star. * Less than 3 posts – no star.

Please use the message board. If the message board is blocked at work, let me know, but do try to access it from home or with a smartphone.
Using the message board makes filling places much easier. I will only SMS if a game looks like it can go on, but it is a few players short.

We currently have 4 games a week: * Tuesday, 9 to 10 pm, Sports Planet, 7-a-side. * Thursday, 9 to 10 pm, Sports Planet, 7-a-side. * Saturday, 5 to 6 pm, Premier Pitch, 7-a-side. * Sunday, 5 to 6 pm, Premier Pitch, 8-a-side. They are all filling up largely on the message board (although the Saturday game still requires a fair amount of SMSing). After each game, any registered member can put up a thread about the game on the Reports board, including a player poll. Apart from Azmi (and occasionally Rajseran) putting up the thread for the Sunday game, I usually end up doing so the day after the game, even if I did not play in the game. From next month onwards, I will wait an extra day before putting up the report thread for games in which I did not play, to allow any registered member more time to do so. If the thread has not been put up by the second day after the game, I will do so, but I will not include a poll for games in which I was not playing. The schedule thread for the following week's game will only be put up after the report thread is up, which means that the threads for regular games will be up 5 days before the game (not the current 6).

.... The schedule thread for the following week's game will only be put up after the report thread is up, which means that the threads for regular games will be up 5 days before the game (not the current 6). Extra games are scheduled as and when necessary. Usually, extra games will be scheduled at least 5 days before hand, but yesterday's extra game was scheduled the day before. As extra games usually won't have a report thread from the week before, they may be scheduled as early as 7 days before hand.

Now that there is a separate category for women's and mixed games, the original "Games" category has been renamed "Men's Games". The original "Other Games" board, comprising mainly of the schedule for women's and mixed games, has been moved to the "Women's & Mixed Game" category. The few men's games on that board have been moved to a new "Other Games" board under the "Men's Games" category. Any registered member who would like to arrange their own game, or a game against another team, can use this board. To distinguish other games from the GIFFA schedule (including extra games), the men's "Schedule" board has been renamed as "GIFFA Schedule".

.... Since the start of November 2010, the player poll has only been included if the report is put up by a player who played in the game. I leave it to anyone who played to put up the report thread. The person who puts up the report can decide whether to include the player poll. If no one puts up the report, I will do so two days after the game. I will only include the player poll if I played in the game. In any event, very few players vote in the poll. I will discontinue the player of the month feature next month, until voting picks up. There hasn't been much use made of the "Queries, Suggestions, Introductions & Chat" board. Feel free to discuss any football there. Anyone (members or guests) can start a thread.

Proboards suffered a "Denial of Service" attack today. The message board was inaccessible or very slow to load at various times today. There were also a couple of occasions towards the end of last year when the Proboards server was down. If the message board is inaccessible for a period of time, I will provide updates on the FIFFA blog during that time, if necessary.

Apart from me, only the following registered members have posted 50 or more times on the message board: Name Number of posts[/b][/u] Poh Keng 301 Azmi 162 Rajseran 111 Neil M 102 Damian Y 92 Ace 90 Ben 68 Look Liew 66 Fred 60 Nick H 60 Elvin 56 Rai 56 Gilbert L 55 Jon L 55 Bobby 54 Murray 54 Mike A 51 Dhiraj 51 Kenny 50 Some increase from 7 months ago. Most of the posts are to put names down for games. Only a few comment on games. Even fewer post on the "Queries, Suggestions, Introductions & Chat" board. To encourage greater use of the message board, the first five members to reach 200 posts will be given a free game (in a game with prepayment). Poh Keng already has his free game. Posts on the scheduling thread and the reports thread should generally be about the game. However, you can post about any topic on "Queries, Suggestions, Introductions & Chat" board
