Melvin Au and Jeff S agreed on the following: Whites: Jeff S, Joel Ong, Melvin Au, Chen Hong, Glenn T, Jin Xian, Justin Reds: Murray, Kelvin Au, Glenn F, John Sng, Ben Y, Lawrenz, Tim C .... Ok. For the first time in history, both selectors are in the same team. .... Usually, I would have spotted it before the game, and reminded the team selectors, but I was away most of the day yesterday, so I didn't see it until after 10 pm. bummer... all that effort The $2 for a first report is still available. Add any comments about the game below.

Since I will be playing tmr i will take the $2 discount ...
Whites: Jeff S, Joel Ong, Melvin Au, Chen Hong, Glenn T, Jin Xian, Justin Reds: Murray, Kelvin Au, Glenn F, John Sng, Ben Y, Lawrenz, Tim C
Capt Justin sent his coffeboy Chennie to check with Sports Planet Management prior to the game to turn on the floodlights at the far end & report came back promptly that they are 'spoilt', just like the canvas covers on the sides, the holes behind the goals etc.
As such Whites took the dodgy darker side on the pitch with Jeff in goal; Joel & JingXian 2 prong pincer attack & Capitan Justin sitting in the centre circle. Notice only the names starting with Js are mentioned. The rest are like extras in a Goal III movie set.
Reds played 5 min with a man short as Ben came late from his Salsa class. Apparently his dancing partner wanted to come along but he didnt want to let in his secret to his hip movements. John Sng & Murray anchored the defense while the rest employed Total Football formation i.e. Glenn & Tim did Rumba while Kelvin & Lawrenz did Cha Cha.
Play started evenly until Joel fired the Whites ahead with a leftie to the top corner as soon as he had sight on goal. Reds tried to counter & was caught on the break & very quickly Whites were 3 up.
Kelvin ordered the Rumbas to switch to Tango & that allowed Ben to slip pass the static Whites defence as our eyes sparkled to the dance steps. The boots were not bright pink & without realising it the score was 2-3.
That prompted an incredible Hulk moment from Uncle Jeff who tore his singlet into shreds. Whites woke up with Melvin pumping 2 quick goals & Joel adding another.
Soon order was established with Whites pulling away as players couldnt bear the sight of Jeff in shredded clothes. Offers were made to switch players but many suspected it was a plan to get Jeff out of the pitch.
Towards the end Glenn added 2 quick goals & all of us were passing the ball to him to get him to complete his hattrick so he can buy all of us 100+ after the game. Alas he was through to an open goal but Justin stole the ball & fired above an empty net !
Final score was 10-8 to Whites ? or was it 11-9 ? 13-11 ?
Thanks to Sports Planet for putting up an romantic atmosphere at the Whites goal end by dimming the lights. We particularly like the untied canvas as it allows a nice sea breeze to pass into the pitch; the players can also stop & look at schoolgirls walk pass while defending corners. Lastly the holes behind the goals is surely a good way to encourage good neighborliness so we can talk to the guys walking by & get them to return our ball. Think the Marine Parade Residents Committee can get some tips from Sports Planet on how to promote the kampung spirit.

Previously: .... It was explained to me that the staff have finally figured out the lights - you have to go back and re-set both boxes, not just the one. I don't know why they hadn't figured this out before. Hopefully, the lights won't be an issue again. .... ..... Either the staff on duty were not briefed, or a new problem has arisen. I've e-mailed Sports Planet again, and copied Chen Hong. .... $2 credit to Chen Hong for a first report. I suppose Jeff S and Melvin Au can have $1 credit each for selecting the teams, but not the additional $1 each as team captains, as they were both on the same team.

beggers can't be choosers. Nice read in the morning, light-hearted humour. Though my wife did warn me I can only strip down and shred clothes for her So no more "hulk-ing" in the future.
