Rajiv, think u can make the selection for this evening game...hehehe...I m tied up with work now cannot be the team selector too... :-) cheers! .... As there are a few players new to the Khalsa game, I'll suggest the line ups this time: Whites: Babs, Brendan (c), Clarence Lee, Stephen Tan, Kelvin Au, Rajiv, Raahol Reds: Bobby, Stan D Man (c), Soon Leong, Mohammed, David N, David T, Wilson Any comments? .... .... Although I told Raahol the place was close to Farrer Park Station, he looked it up on the internet and ended up at Toa Payoh Stadium, home of Balestier Khalsa. We started 6 v 7. Reds with the extra man were restricted to scoring within the D. Reds took the lead, and although Babs equalised for Whites with a long range shot, Reds went 3-1. Whites were defending deep, but managed to pull another back to 3-2. Raahol joined the game at about 9.25 pm. Reds went 4-2 up but again, Whites pulled back to within 1 goal - 4-3. Whites then began to dominate and started pushing more players forward to try to get back on level terms. From experience, pushing players forward always leaves you vulnerable to counter-attacks, and so it proved, as Reds scored twice on the counter to go ahead 6-3. Whites re-organised, and possession became more even between the two teams. However, Whites were defending better, while still creating the odd chance. Whites managed to exploit some amount of slackness in Reds defence to score three times and level the game at 6-6. The game went past 10 pm, as Stan D Man had chosen the pitch with no one playing after us. Soon Leong left with space on the right grabbed his hattrick to make it 7-6 for Whites. We played on to a last goal, which Babs scored with a spectacular header off a kick in from Brendan. Also his hattrick I believe. Several wanted to continue, but I had to leave. Final score: 7-7. Good game overall. $1 credit to each of Stan D Man and Brendan as team captains. Add any other comments below.

.... From now on, when I play and do the first report, I'll keep the first report credit for myself. However, I will not do a report immediately after the game, to give other players a chance first. .... .... Any approved player can start a thread on the report board anytime after the game. ..... If no one does, I start the thread about a day later, to try encourage the players to add a comment or report. If I didn't play in the game, then it's a bare thread, and the $2 credit goes to the first player to add a report or provide details.

A great match! Really enjoyable I felt, and a welcome return to competitive matches after last weeks match! I felt Whites were the better team throughout & had the lions share of possession and chances but credit to Reds for being clinical & always having their noses in front. One of my favorite GIFFA games so far! Credit to Rajiv for a sumptuous left foot curler from outside of the D to bring the scores to 6-5! Redeemed himself for the goal he conceded as Keeper when he was on his mobile phone to Raahol!!

Don't blame the phone. I would have saved the shot if it hadn't taken a deflection off Brendan. It was the opener. The shot was from within the D (we still had only 6), and the deflection was only a couple of feet in front of me. Although I had the right side of goal covered, the deflection took it into the bottom right corner. The phone was in the left hand.

I think we are talking about different goals Jiv! I am pretty sure it was the second or possibly 3rd goal that went into your left corner?

Enjoyable and competitive game. On the whole, Reds were better organized and had better shape, and whites made up for it through determination and fighting spirit.
