Maybe this weekend being the second last weekend of the school holidays, parents are taking the opportunity to get away with the family, with next weekend dedicated to getting children ready to return to school.
Or perhaps it's because it's Father's Day tomorrow, and players may have other arrangement with the family, either as father or son, and don't want to commit to playing.
It was a good workout on a hot afternoon. 7-a-side showed up our lack of match fitness with most of us walking instead of running towards the end of the game.
On White side, Elvin scored a brace and I think Albert, Lung Nien and Anthony were on the scoresheet as well. White's defence was staunch with Jye, Anthony and Elvin holding the line, Reds found it very difficult to break through.
Funny thing about goal keeping, this time it was the opposite with many of us on the White team winded and fighting for the goalie position :0 Quite a refreshing change in any case.
Red's rally in the latter part of the game was due mainly to White's lack of stamina and a change in the setup this time with Kenji and Yuchi combining well up front with Jiv finally finding stablility in his knees also bringing up the ball into threatening positions.
Dave and Miguel were full of running and Foo Cheong had a good spell in attack. Red hit the post and were unlucky not to have scored more although White did give one goal away cheaply with me waiting for Albert to pick up the ball and looking at each other before Whites just toe poked it in.
Need to work on the stamina for these 7-a-side games!
Yeah definitely a good work out and and enjoyable game! I think the line ups were unbalanced but who cares. It gave the game that added edge! I think Reds had some good team spirit and never give up attitude going. Kenji was brilliant and inspired our late comeback......
