Whites: Anthony, Danny, Foo Cheong , Wing Kong, Lynz (ts), David M, Alex (guest), Ronald (guest) Reds: Elvin (ts), Babs, Kenny, Martijn, Kenji, Damian, Rockstar, Tan Wee
In the end it was 8 v 8 as Lynz got two guest players Alex and Ronald from the earlier game, and Tan Wee switched to Reds.
It was the lowest-scoring game in memory (that I have played in) at Turf City.
Tactically a good game with both sides keeping possession, passing well and spreading play.
It was a good 15 minutes before there was a goal, and it came from a back pass to Red's goalie. But it never reached Damian because Lynz got to the ball first and poked it in.
Reds were chasing the game after that. That suited the Whites who attacked on the counter through, first Lynz and later Ronald, supported by Alex, Wing Kong and David M. Whites' defence were disciplined and kept its shape throughout the game.
Mid-way through Lynz and Damian went for a cross and there was a collision of heads. Both went down. Damian recovered but Lynz sat out the game until the end.
8 v 7 and Reds are on the attack and Whites on the defensive. Whites managed to keep the Reds at bay, helped by the fact that Reds are restricted from scoring outside the penalty dots (so no long shots from Elvin, Martijn and co. to worry about.)
Whites' attacks were counter attacks and Alex and Ronald combined well. One of them (can't recall who) scored on one of these counter-attacks towards the end.
Lynz came back on in the last 10 minutes as goalie and Whites held on.
Final score 2 - 0 and Whites won only with an early goal and a late goal.
