As several Saturday regulars are away or unavailable, a chance for others to get in for the Saturday game. I think first time we've had 3 Tims/Timmys in one game. If the selectors are not familiar with any of the players, they can ask me.
Received the following SMS from Timmy about an hour ago, presumably after reading the above:
.... Actually, today's game was quite good and both red & white played very competitive although short one player. All the incidents are main for the game not to person I would say. Great Sat game again:)
I assume the player short was the injured Xiong Wei?
I invited Timmy to post his message on this thread, and to include the final score, for the $2 credit if he is the first to do so, but no sign of him here.
The $2 credit for a first report remains available.
Fiery game yes. Its a pity Xiong wei got a cut near his eye but he was all smile througout.. And a big thanks to Fred who was sporting enough to stand in for injured xiong wei and lynz who was making sure xw was alright outside. Fred was also sporting enough to switch to whites when they were struggling with 1 man down and it really tire whites out as reds had good and running players. On a hindsight, some people just dont know what to say and when to keepbquite. For a mature man,its telling on how a person lacks eq when he calls others derogatory terms and put someone below You by insulting his or her intelligence. Just a prove of how shallow a human being can be. So what if you are earning big bucks or drive a luxurious car. A person's upbringing and character and respect others have for him is a testimony of whethe he is respectable person. Karma is a bitch. So let nature takes its course. Just a reminder that not all humans are the same. Some will just shut up and take deragotory comments while others are not so kind. Cheers to all for the game. Could have been longer as there were no one playing after us. 5-4 i think to the reds
* If one team is a player short due to a no show, late withdrawal, fatigue, injury or illness, we try to find a replacement at the venue itself. If a replacement cannot be found, we continue with one team a player short. The team with the extra player is restricted in its scoring to within an imaginary line running through the penalty spot for the opposing goal. If the team that is a player short is losing badly in the second half of the game, a player from the side with the extra player should switch to the team with a player short. The scoring restriction is also switched.
I checked with Xiong yest after the game and he is ok ... fairly deep cut so he will assess if any stitches required. Unfortunate incident at the very early part of the game. Thanks Fred for switching sides for a while when it was 7 a side and again later on when 8 on 7, both times playing keeper. Whites had quite a few new players for the Sat game but overall played well despite 1 man short and trying to adjust to each others' style. Tim T gets special mention for covering everywhere for Whites. Reds had a few runners and passed the ball around well although it is always tough to have to score inside the penalty line. Game went on till 6.15 and most decided to stop after a tiring run around.
A few flash points and verbals during the game but in truth it was nothing more than handbags. It is important to not let little disagreements drag on & also to not over react on the pitch. We are all trying to win but in the end of the day I would like to think we all have respect for each other & are mates off the pitch also.
Best wishes to Xiong Wei, hope it's not to bad, danger of playing with glasses i suppose. It's hard to run with your arms by your side to be fair unless your a penguin, so just bad luck I suppose at the nature of the injury. Thanks to Fred for switching both sides and well done whites who kept plugging away with one man down.
