I thought the line ups were pretty even on paper - I tried to split the teams with even ball players, runners, defenders ..
At the onset, it may have looked like my lineups were uneven - I think Reds were up 4-1 or 5-1 at some point with no reply.
Credit to the whites for fighting back strongly. Rai leading from the back, and Melvin and Ace running onto his passes from the back. Neil L was his usual industrious self, pushing up and down the flanks, making several good interceptions, and pushing forward on the counter. Melvin L made his presence felt, and using the side netting on several occasions well Scored a couple of good goals too. If Melvin Au had his scoring boots on, they could even have taken the lead once or twice.
Reds had majority of the possesion, seemed to be more composed with the ball - used it well to slow the game down to catch our breath - Whites were counter attacking all night! Our strategy at the start was to keep our positions, and to force shooters like Melvin, Ace and Rai to the sides, so they had to either cross or shoot with their weaker side. Not sure if we suceeded with the game plan, but I thought we defended pretty well at the start.. then we took our foot off the accelerator after going 5-1 up, and allowed Whites to claw back.
We traded punches (not literally) till it was 8-8 and I called last goal. Yours truly finished the night after the never-say-die James "kneed-ed" a delightful cross for me to finish it for 9-8 Reds!
James worked hard all night, wanted the ball, and made use of it well. Pity like Mel, he missed a few good chances last night. Dave K was a rock at the back. So we had a rock, and an anchor (Chen Hong).. nice!
I thought it was pretty enjoyable - not because I was on the winning side - I think everyone enjoyed the post CNY workout... we all could tell who ate a tad more pineapple tarts during CNY

one heck of a "detoxing" workout especially after a long CNY break ... "super intense & fast" quoted Song after the game having been away for almost a month. Well deserved win for the Reds with their fluid movement and passing. Chen Hong proving to be the ROCK in defense he bragged to be in Wassap and Niel was inspiration for the rest of the Whites with his energy & hustling all over the pitch entire game. Despite trailing all game, White did extremely well to shake off our early jitters and clawed our way back into the game. Very unlucky at times but just couldn't mustered enough for the win. Great effort by all 14 players especially under very slippery and chilly conditions!
