Blacks: Rajiv, Eric, Benjamin, Neil S, Stanley Whites: John J, Dhiraj, Simon A, Damian, Neil M
Rather one sided affair last night in the end. The game started off fairly evenly and scoring was at a premium. It took about 15 minutes for whites to move into a 2-0 lead, but from that point onwards whites took control and started scoring more freely. Blacks continued to give their all and scored a couple of well worked goals, but as they were continually chasing the game their legs soon tired, and Whites continued to dominate. I lost count of the eventual score, but would guess it was something like 15-4?
Performances worth mentioning: solid debut for Simon who looked very good for Whites; John J scored some outrageous shots with his 'slippers' - leave the football boots at home from now on! and Neil S worked tirelessly for the Blacks and never gave up. Good effort all round. We should try mixing the teams up next week to even things out.
Good game! Actually it wasn't as lop sided as the scoreline would suggest and in terms of possession, it was rather equal between Blacks and Whites. In fact, Black players like Stan and Yas did manage to hold onto the ball for quite long periods.
What Whites had over Blacks was Finishing! John (lethal slippers) J, was outstanding in his quick interceptions and shots from the side into the goal (u got my vote for this one John) and Neil with his well worked runs and passes and also special mention to Simon who had an excellent debut. Dhiraj also had a decent game.
Blacks did have their chances but unfortunately failed to convert. Neil S made good runs to threathen but was blocked and Ben managed to get into the right positions only for the final shot to go wayward. Yas did a good job controlling the mid and bringing the ball up and Jiv displayed good understanding as well in the same position.
With the rather rife scoring by Whites towards the latter part of the game, Blacks started to tire and began to become disorganised and this enabled Whites to start playing a smooth passing game finding open players more easily.
Would've been interesting if Simon had switched out to Blacks tho' Oh well, thats football its never easy to predict when the sides are evenly match and I have oft witnessed what appeared to be a really Strong team on paper unexpectedly lose to supposedly weaker side.
Apologies to Stan for the bumps! Hope the jaw and ribs are ok....
