.... In order to give more players the opportunity to play in the Saturday game, and to get players used to the idea of playing from 6 to 7 pm, I am considering the following for next month: * Schedule the Saturday evening game at The Grandstand for 2 hours (from 5 to 7 pm), with 3 teams of 7 or 8 players (that is, up to 24 players). * The 3 teams (A, B and C) will play 40 minute games as follows: * If we don't get at least 21 players (3 teams of 7) by 2 pm on Saturday, then only the first 16 will play from 5 to 6 pm as usual. I will take into consideration feedback given on this thread, but I am inclined to give it a try. Strong views from several regulars against it. I'm only looking to try it out for a week or two, for the reasons stated above. The first time will be either 4 or 11 May 2013. Anyway, I've put up a poll. Minimum of 16 votes, and and at least 75% opposed, to veto me.

I've modified the schedule of games so it's based on Foo Cheong's suggestion: 20 min games are too disruptive, insufficient time to establish tempo and build understanding. If you MUST try it out over 1 or 2 games, 40 min games would be better. To 5.40pm: A vs B To 6.20pm: B vs C To 7.00pm: A vs C Tiredness should not be an issue as the regular 6pm game sometimes stretches past the hour. In any case, there is the option of being goalie. Or they can indicate their preference to be in team A, so that they can take a 40 min breather. Also, for those who can't stay 2 hours and need to leave early, they can be in team B. Likewise, those who are habitually late will not be in teams A or B. ;D And for those who need time to settle down and establish rhythm, they can be in teams B or C. Something for everyone. ;D

.... With the low number of votes so far, I'm unlikely to change anything for the following week (4 May 2013). I'll allow more time for more players to vote. So we'll stick to the usual 2 teams over one hour format for 4 May 2013. If we do try playing 3 teams over 2 hours in a subsequent week, whether we have 3 game of 40 minutes or 6 games of 20 minutes is still open for discussion.

Still only 8 votes. I'll give it another week. If my suggestion of playing with 3 teams over 2 hours isn't vetoed by the time I put up the schedule thread for the game on Saturday, 18 May 2013, I will try it for that game.
The players who are opposed are at liberty to canvass votes against over the next two Saturday games.

I won't try it for 18 May 2013. I'll leave it for 25 May 2013.
