Concerns expressed by Sushil, Wayne and Andrew on the WhatsApp group chat, so I've asked Wayne and Derian to discuss and post the final line ups with colours. If no agreement, then everyone just bring both colours and sort it out at the venue.
Team 1: Dom, Nick C, Wayne H, Louis, Sushil,Kelvin Au, Melvin Au (reds) Team 2: Wilson, Derian, Sean Luo, Mark Li, David T, Kelvin Han, Andrew B (whites)
The game finally got to a start after some last minute reshuffling of players after reds complained that whites looked too strong on paper.
Whites started the game with one man short with andrew coming a little late at 915. Reds raced off to a 2-0 lead with good combination play between kelvin and wayne. Whites dragged a goal back after some reshuffling in formation from whites with david coming up with a shot from the top of the area. Sean made it 2-2 as the game started to open up a little. Whites went 3-2 before david made a mistake at the back with an own goal. That dampnened whites and lifted reds as they went on a goal barrage.
Whites started to look disorganised and tired and the game finallt ended at 13-5.
Still an enjoyable although a little embarrassing for whites.
Was it 13-5? I think we only won by about 3 goals.
I thought we (reds) really played well defensively today. Kudos to Nick for rallying us at the start of the game - saying we should not give too much respect to whites, and get in their faces at the get go. There was quite a bit of hustling and closing down by reds, and pushing as high a line as we could. Key thing was not allowing their last man time to play it out from the back.
I thought Louis and Sushil were solid defensively. Nick had his (or someone elses') scoring boots on tonight, bagging 5 or 6 goals.
Whites just didn't get their usual game going and seemed a bit sluggish. On they're day, they're quite irritatingly unstoppable
David T says Melvin and my application to be part of David T and friends is still pending. Watch this space!
