For Team 1, Damian is the most regular on Sunday, and has experience being captain, so he can be captain again, even though Tim has played as often in the current 6 month period (17 times, split between Saturday and Sunday) and only Nordin has played more (20 times, with a few on Saturday or weeknight at Khalsa). If Damian prefers, he can ask either Tim or Nordin to be captain during the game, and if they agree.
For Team 2, the player with the most number of games over the current 6 month period can be captain - Babs with 29 games.
Colours assigned by 2 or 3 pm.
It finished 10-4 to Whites. Several complaints about the line ups, mainly from Babs and Martijn, so I'll go into it a bit more.
First time I was seeing Anthony and Richard play. I had previously been told that Anthony was big. He wasn't as big as I had been led to believe, but he was much faster than I might have imagined.
I came back at 5.30 pm and learnt Whites were leading 6-1. My assessment is based on what I saw from 5.30 pm onwards. Reds had a lot of good possession in midfield and down the wings, and several good chances, but the final ball was lacking, either passing when a shot was on, or misplacing the last pass. Whites scored on quick counters, with Nordin kept upfront, and Anthony able to join him at pace, or when Reds lost possession in defence.
Whites defence looked very solid, with Tim at centre back intercepting virtually everything coming in through the top of the D. It added pressure on Reds to get the final ball spot on, which probably increased the number of misplaced passes. Tim and Phang also got up and down quickly from defence to attack and back. Mark and Richard probably had a very good first half hour, but with the heat, were quieter in the second half hour. Damian and Muralee were solid around Tim.
Reds had a decent team, but had too many players in forward positions. With the pace of Anthony, Reds needed to have more players behind the ball. I appreciate it was tough in the warm weather we had today. It probably contributed to to 3 or 4 Whites goals. On the other hand, Reds should have scored 2 or 3 more.
Feel free to disagree with me.
As I didn't play, the $2 credit for a first report is still available.
