After the terrible week of being shrouded in the terrible haze and the anxiety of not being able to confirm the game a few hours before kickoff, everyone was just glad to kit on and was raring to go.
It was very tight in the early stages of the game as the both sides featuring a couple of newcomers each were trying to adapt to each other & the pace of the game.
Alvin & Javier both had a good debut game esp Javier who displayed quick shuffling feet and had our defenders in sixes and sevens on several occasions. Kelvin Lee scored his trademark thunderous goal from just beyond the halfway line, the ball swirl and serve in midair and leaving me with no chance in goal. I didnt even move an inch.
Shawn and TK were playing just their 2nd game after their debut on Monday on the small pitch. Despite his small built, Shawn put up a fearless display by taking on the much bigger Whites defenders when he had the chance but unfortunately he was very unlucky in front of goal. TK was a bit more passive but with some intelligent running into space, he managed to score 1/2 goal(s) via set pieces.
Dan and Jeff had the opposition forwards in their pockets for most of the game for the respective team. Sufian was showing off his bedazzling dancing moves as usual and was clearly the difference between the 2 teams.
I think the game ended with the Reds nicking it by a 2/3 goals in a highly enjoyable and contested game.
Shawn gets my vote for MOM for his tireless and never say die effort. Mostly importantly, Boon finally found his winning colour and even celebrated in style by refusing to score when in a good position but instead slide and rolled over the ball for a well deserve bottom massage when the game was still on the line!
