Whites: Ian D, Niel L, Dave Kotroczo, Andrew B, Dom F Reds: Dan W, Philip S, Sven, Kodaka, Azmi
In view of Andrew's late arrival, we played 4 vs 5 for about 10 mins with the usual handicap (Reds could only score in the "D") and Whites edged it 1-0 just before Andrew arrived.
When the teams were 5 vs 5, Whites wasted no time in storming into a 5-0 lead and the 5-goal cushion was maintained as the lead was extended to 6-1 and 7-2. After about 40 minutes, the gap widened to 10-3 but a late rally from the Reds who pulled 2 goals back was not enough and Whites ran out 14-5 winners.
It was one of those days when Reds had their chances but a combination of being desperately unluckly on several occasions (hitting the post a few times) and some heroic defending from Whites prevented them from really getting a foothold in the game. In contrast, the Whites were quite clinical in front of goal save for me who missed a few gilt-edged sitters - I will put it down to ring rustiness after being out for 5 weeks.
The game was played in good spirits and credit to Reds who never let their heads drop and kept fighting to the end.
