Whites: Stephen Tan, Stanley Tan, Lee Powers, Gerard, Darren D, Ray Yap, David N Reds: Steven Lim, Derian, Daniel T2, Sean Luo, Mark Li, Roger, Kien
Game started at about 910pm due to pitch delays and late players.
This game saw a few Sunday turf city regulars taking up a few spots in the lineups. Darren, who was arguably the man of the match in last Sunday's game took to the same team with Gerard.
Whites, with Darren providing a master class display in midfield, quickly went into a 2 goal lead with goals coming from Lee and Stanley. Reds were left shell shocked with the quick goals, but were not able to conjure up many chances as they were overwhelmed by the quick passing movement from whites.
Whites were having trouble keeping possession and were often caught in defence as they tried to play short passes to get the ball out. A change in tactics saw kien dropping back from attack to midfield. This provided the change in fortune for reds as derian made a quick turn and blasted a goal to the bottom near post to break the duck for reds.
Just as Reds thought they have turned the corner, whites replied through Darren and Gerard. Darren's goal, a result of lack of midfield cover, saw him dancing past white's defence to cooly slot the ball in the bottom corner. Gerard's goal, as a result of a lung bursting run to connect with a rebound to smash the ball home.
Reds, thoroughly dejected from those goals, did not seem like they have any idea on how to get the ball into the net.
It wasn't until the last quarter of the game, when whites started to tire that reds found more spaces up front with long balls launched into the opponents third. One of those high balls found derian who took the ball down with his first touch, a quick swiwel and turn saw him clear of the defender as he smashed the ball past the goalie. Another chance saw him clear with only Gerard and David to beat at the goaline as he smashed his 3rd goal to get reds from a losing position to 6-5.
Whites were losing pace and even Sean, Daniel and Mark got a piece of the action. The man of the moment was not to be denied however, with a deft touch from a long pass and he blasted his 4th into the top corner.
Final score was 10-5 to reds. What a turn-around for Reds as whites began to tire towards the end.
