It was a tight, highly contested match yesterday - especially for a Sunday which normally are quite mellow.
Reds started well and had most of the possession for the first 30 minutes. Connor had a powerful shot / goal. Dilesh was full of enerygy allways chasing the defense and deserved to make a goal from up close. Later on Derian and Dilesh got into a debate (probably a bit too heated) whether a ball is in play if the goallie has it in his hands and willfully drops it on the turf. Whites was certainly not out of the match with Christian showing great skill and also scoring two or three goals. Reds kept combining well and created at least 10 good opportunities with 3 attackers against 2 defenders, but the last pass or finish was inaccurate or unconvincing. Danny also intercepted quite a few moves with very committed defending. Still, with 3-1 up after 40 minutes or so and Brendan having lost a sole of his shoe, it looked like a Reds victory in the making. However, Whites were much crisper in their finish and suddenly were up 4 to 3. We kept going and while Fred missed a first one-on-one chance with the keeper, he started a delightful run behind the defence and connected with a perfect touch-volley from a long distance pass (very similar to a van Persie goal last year in the Champions League from a Rooney pass). We called it quits pretty much right after that.
So final score was 4-4. Another controversial point was a disallowed goal which would have had Reds up to 5-4 this was due to a foul call from Nordin on me on the other side of the pitch....while most waved it off as not a foul and the ball was played up to Whites defence which resulted in the goal, there were White players who insisted that they had stopped playing because of the call...oh well....that's football for ya!
