It was a shambolic game for the whites. Lured into a false sense of security with the numerical superiority, whites allowed* reds to take a runaway lead of 6-0 before a reply by John gave the whites a sense of hope. It was a false dawn. The reds kept their defensive discipline and continued to score a further 3 goals with the whites managing only 2 more. The game ended 9-3.
I use the word "allowed" but that seems to imply the whites had a choice in the matter. We didn't. The reds defense were marshaled superbly by Tom with Nick taking a stranglehold of the midfield the way a python slowly squeezes its prey to death and wingers like Ray rampaging down the flanks.
Kelvin in his midfield center role tried his best to bring the rest of the team into the game with quick turns and probing passes. Yet today was not the day for comebacks.
