I thought I locked the poll with just 1 vote for each of Brendan and Tim T, but evidently, I didn't. I've locked it now, with more votes. Anyway, Brendan and Tim have the most votes, and Dom has opted out. However, several non-regulars, so I will suggest line ups:
Brendan and Tim have been discussing changes, but haven't agreed yet, and it's getting late, so I will revise the line ups:
As Brendan and Tim are now on the same team, the regular on each team with the most number of games in the current 6 month period can be captains - with Dom having opted out, Brendan for Team 1 (32 games), and Desmond for Team 2 (23 games).
Not to take anything away from Reds but from Whites' point of view I'm not sure if the lineups were entirely fair as a strong midfield and forward combination of Nick, Richard, Jan and Christian dominated the majority of the game and proved too strong for Whites both physically and technically.
Reds took a 2-0 lead and credit to Whites who then managed to fight back to 2-2. Whites' defence and midfield were guilty of giving away possession far too often and easily which eventually led to Reds going up to 3-2 with about 15 minutes to go. At that stage Whites pushed forward to try to get an equaliser which left too much room open on the counter and Reds scored two more late on to finish 5-2.
Thanks to Rain Man for the beers who I think set a record for most beers not drunk. Proof that we need the GIFFA alcoholics Babs and Raj back.
yeah, tough game… after reds pulled ahead 2:0 a goal from Brendan from the middle of the pitch was disallowed because the two captains – one of them Brendan - did nt see it (!?). Then a handball in the box from Des was nt given due to ‘hand not to ball’ rule. At least some of the missing controversy typical for sat games was back! Whites kept pushing and finally crawled back the 2 goals to make it 2:2. Definitely an act of will rather than skill as whites kept struggling to find their rhythm. The final 3 goals … ah, sorry i did nt see those . Let’s call it a win for reds. They deserved it in the end.
