Although Sean, Derian and Eam are far longer standing regulars, they haven't played over the last two Wednesdays, where we've had several new or less regular players who are playing tomorrow. As such, I suggest that the most regular of those who played last Wednesday be team selectors. That would be Leon and Tom E.
If they can't do it, then I will have a hard time doing the selection, as I don't know the new players.
Not really entering a match report but just an observation in general - from the few times I've played on Wednesdays, I've typically enjoyed myself and it's always been good exercise and the spirit is good (even though I'm guilty of doing most of the verbalizing on the pitch, LOL).
Anyways, what typifies big wins on Wednesdays have always been team play, with good ball movement; usually coming from the folks who had played together for a while at East Coast (as I understand) as well as Derian's band of merrymen
This makes those who don't play so regularly, or those drop in for a rare run-out from time to time, frustrated when the team they play on gets blown out.. which the Whites were this past session, trying to catch up to a 2 goal lead, making it 2-2, then 3-3, before it became something like 9-4 for the Reds, who took their chances well and were as Bayern Munich-esque as one could get at a recreational level.
So the lesson of the story is, especially for the Wednesday games, that team play is important -- passing, making yourself available in the channels, pressing, holding the shape of the formation, marking, etc. Of course, if you prefer to get a good exercise just chasing the opponents around, and don't mind a whipping, then just go out and enjoy yourself and play (or dribble) your heart out
As a comparison, the games I play on on Saturdays/Sundays have usually been more of individual match-ups, as the skill levels on both sides are usually fairly even -- it probably is due to the Sat/Sun captains being more pro-active about who they want on their sides; this is probably harder to achieve on Wednesdays because the participants can vary quite a bit.
I'll leave someone else to fill in the details of how the 9-4 scoreline came about! Have a good week, till next time.
