Some confusion about colours on the WhatsApp group chat. Brendan said the colours were the wrong way around before posting the line ups with colours. Foo Cheong volunteered to post the line ups on the message board, and did so as posted by Brendan. Later, Brendan again said the colours were the wrong way round. Anthony and Jon said they had already left home with the colours as originally posted.
Until the team selectors sort it out, I've removed the colours from the line ups above.
We had a great Sunday game today with quality finishing. While last Sunday the conversion rate was probably around 30% to 40% (except Elvin who made 5 goals), today it was closer to 80%. Brendan had suggested a very balanced line-up and we started with Red shirts. Reds had a little bit more of the ball in the beginning but Whites scored the first goal. Under pressure from Reds they then lost ball in defence and Art finished the loose ball. Gerard put one in to go up 2-1. But Whites played well with build-ups via Tan Wee from right back. Whites had 3 midfielders with great shots (Brendan, Jon and Anthony) and used that very effectively. Not sure who scored the first goals for Whites but they were from distance while Whites went upfront with a nice pass from Anthony to Brendan on the run who could lash on it between 3 defenders. Gerard later equalized, he walked away from defenders and quickly turned around after receiving the pass and finished before anyone was near him - great finish. I htink that it was time for Anthony then who had a great game. Twice he made an immediate one-touch goal from behind the top of the box from corners (which are very difficult to control) and also intercepted my bad pass to hit in the corner again. Luckily we had Elvin who put two in with a delicious one-two with Richard being the goal of the match. So the match flowed back and forth. Tan Wee also had a stunner from long distance going inside of the post. Jon at one time trying to hit my head and all I can do was block it with my hands. As a result, a stinging penalty shot by Jon which Gerard saved. Someone said later it was the turning point of the match as Reds made another few goals and it ended 8-6 for Reds.
