Kelvin was traumatized by yesterday's game, so he didn't want to take on the responsibility again, so I put it to the players affected ((1), (8) to (12) and (14)) to object to David and Derian's request if they wanted to. Ting Wei doesn't appear to have checked WhatsApp, but the other 6 didn't have objections, and 5 (apart from Kelvin Han, who didn't actually say anything) said they could live with it. To be fair to Aaron, he doesn't know better.
Derian asked for White, Kelvin/Gerard were ok with Red, so we have:
Whites: Sean Luo, Wilson, David T, Derian, Daniel T, Kee Hoe, Laurence Corroon Reds: Ting Wei, Kelvin Au, Melvin Au, Gerard, Darren, Aaron Sim, Kelvin Han
Reds came into the game thinking we were in for a hard time against whites. These best buddies have been playing together as a team probably even before puberty and are known for their excellent teamwork in passing the ball around.
Whites knocked in the first goal but reds got their act together and responded with a couple of very well taken goals. The combination of Melvin and Darren proved to be very lethal while top notch defending from both Kelvins and Ting Wei made it very difficult for whites to get an easy goal. I believe Melvin and Darren had at least 3-4 goals apiece. Aaron had a decent first game and scored a debut goal. Kelvin Han had a beautiful last goal, a top corner curling shot from far left.
Whites too played some pretty football with Sean controlling midfield. David and Daniel were full of energy with some good dribbling and well taken shots at goal. Both Wilson and Kee Hoe too played decent football, considering that this is their first game in a long while. Derian played his perfect game despite being positioned out of his favorite striker role, which he sacrificed for his buddy Lawrence. I remember Daniel scored a superb volley from a long ball near midfield.
Rajiv's defense is key advice was spot on. Kelvin Au did a great job at the back, leading Red's defense and I think the final score was 10-5.
I would say both teams were fairly even.
Thanks for the game. I've been on a losing streak for awhile and it's a great feeling to win again.
