With Philip late withdrawal, stepped in Tim C. I felt the team was a bit unbalanced to start with with more depth in the red team than white. Rain aside it was a bit of drizzle 10 mins before the game but it did stop at 9am before the kick off.
True to my thoughts, the reds raised forward with 3 goals with goals coming from Kelvin and James. As usual with team in commanding lead, complacency sneaked into the Reds game. For some reason, everyone did not take real ownership in defense allowing Shawn and Tim C to equalized and tied the game. Reds were forced to shuffle the backline and Jamie started to put people in positions. It worked and Reds scored a couple of goals, it seemed almost cruise control for then on but Whites mustered their second wind and threaten to equalized again. Spotting the danger early, Eric took ownership to be in center of defense. Whites continuously tried to break down Reds attack and hurried the game, with Shawn moving around up top constantly to keep the Reds defense on their toes. Song Chuan made good runs but were let down by the finishing and he also had good positions but didn't have the confidence to have a crack but rather played it out to others which the Reds defense constantly swept it up.
The wet pitch did add to the injuries to the Reds with Brian had a cut on his finger and had to sit out the last 20 mins and eric injured his shin and ended up in goal. Reds played with 6 players for the last 20mins but the lead they opened and having more players that are able to keep ball and not rushed the game allowed them to see out the game, scoring a few goals with counter attacks and taking their half -chances well.
Rai put the game to close for whites, but by then the margin was too big for the Whites to catch up. Reds won by 2 or 3 goals last night with scoreline either 7-4 or 8-5 to Reds.
