On Tuesday, Reza forwarded to me an e-mail from a female friend trying to organize a one-off mixed game next Thursday, but who can't get a pitch. She has actually been on my mailing list for some time, as Joel had previously introduced her as being interested in playing in mixed games. However, we haven't had a mixed game since 15 August 2010 (although we have had regular women's games since then on Sundays). In order to give those who don't get much chance to play an opportunity to play (including female players), and to test the waters for a more regular mixed game, I agreed to switch next Thursday's game to a mixed game. It's a one-off. I hope those who play on Thursdays don't mind. They have other opportunities to play regularly. Longer term, I might try either or both of the following as a regular mixed game: * alternate Saturdays, 6 to 7 pm, at the Premier Pitch @ Turf City. * alternate Wednesdays, 9 to 10 pm, at The Cage (alternating with Cage cricket perhaps). A 7-a-side pitch is available. As it is a one-off game, I'm putting it up a day earlier. I understand Yuet Chia already has 11 players.

.... I discussed the matter further with Yuet Chia yesterday. It's intended to be just a kick-about amongst friends. The Premier Pitch @ Khalsa also has a larger 9-a-side pitch. The 7-a-side pitches are behind one goal, while the 5-a-side pitches are at one side of the same half of the pitch. Although the 9-a-side pitch is not floodlit, the lighting from the 5 and 7-a-side pitches provide decent illumination to the half ot the pitch that they adjoin. I found out yesterday that the Premier Pitch @ Khalsa are now allowing the 9-a-side pitch to be booked at night at $80 per hour. I passed on the information to Yuet Chia, and she has decided that the 9-a-side pitch will do. They only need to use a small section of it, so they can use the part that is illuminated by the floodlights on the neighbouring pitches. I understand the goalposts are movable. No mixed game on the 7-a-side pitch then, which means it is available for our regular game.
