From a game that was almost cancelled with 5 v 5, we ended up with a 7 v 7, thanks to Joel's efforts of resuscitating the game, Ryan showing up and James agreeing to play for the Whites after his earlier game... and not only that, we had a full lung bursting 2 hour game!
On paper Whites were the much weaker team but James helped us to restore some balance. We started with 6 aside until Ryan and Ben showed up 10 minutes later. Whites went ahead with a couple of well taken goals by James but Reds caught up after several defensive lapses by Whites.
Whites were mostly ahead by 2-3 goals but each time the determination of the Reds enabled them to narrow the deficit to a goal. John was playing well in defence, many a time foiling Reds in their counter attacks. Roy was running hard, distributing passes and covering in defence while James and Joel were lethal in scoring...and Rai made sure the defence kept its shape.
Terence made a good debut for the Reds, connecting well with Shawn, and always unselfishly tracking back to defend. He even made a great sliding tackle to clear the ball inches off the goaline after I managed to squeeze the ball pass Shawn the keeper. Jeff was in his usual attacking centre back role, often venturing up from behind to hit a hard shot.
With no one claiming the pitch after us we carried on playing until we almost dropped. Thanks to Rai who prevented me from scoring the last goal and my hattrick by back hooking away the ball that was heading straight into goal, the game was prolonged for another 10 mins until James finally ended the workout with the last goal giving the game to the Whites by 2 goals. Only when we sat down after the game did we realise it was almost 11 pm!
It was a hard fought match with many clashes of legs as both team of players went all out for the loose balls, Unfortunately for me both my big toes/nails were badly bruised as a result of stud abuse.
Nonetheless, great game and fantastic workout. Thanks to everyone who showed up.

Boon - I am surprised you didn't mention you buried dead the "white jersey jinx" of yours.
Another hastily put together game, with me ending up on the losing side again . But that is the only thing negative about the game personally. I must say the game was even despite the 3 or 4 goals difference at the end. Whites played as a team more than Reds and the number of times reds hit the uprights and crossbar were unbelievable. Man for man, I think Reds has a better team overall.
