Reds started the game much stronger with Dustin, Anthony and kelvin controlling the game. Dogged defending from the whites kept the Red menace at bay for some time.
Reds drew first blood when Isaac's clearance bounced off Raj and into the net. It looked like a massacre was about to begin.
Then some hustling from the whites in the red's penalty box led to a stray ball which I believed Jon slammed home.
Whites went on to score four more goals without reply. Second goal was scored by Isaac when further harassment by the whites in the penalty box lead to another stray ball. Third goal was from a long ball (was it by Jon) which Brendan guided home. Fourth goal was from another white harassment incident. I would like to say Isaac's chip was exquisite. Fifth goal was from another long ball sent from the back (was it by Raj) which Brendan displayed Bergkampesque control to guide home.
With the score 5-1, the whites were surprisingly in a comfortable position which clearly the whites didn't like. So we (the whites) slacked off and allowed the Reds to score two goals off some abysmal defending.
5-3 and it looked like the Reds would come back from the dead. The Whites were defending in a manner to steal defeat from the jaws of victory.
Against the run of play, another long ball by the whites with Brendan using his head leads to the sixth goal.
Kelvin scored one more goal for the Reds to make the score 6-4. Another 10 minutes and the Reds would have won the game. The Whites were tiring. Thank goodness for the management of the pitch telling us we had to end the game with a last goal.
Final score 7-4. Jon scoring with, what is becoming his trademark, a thunderbolt shot.
Someone from the whites definitely did something right during Chinese New Year. Luck was on our side for this game.
7-4 we played the final goal which Jon blasted home from outside....my fault as knowing his shooting prowess I shdv just closed him down instead of shadowing....
It was a close match and Reds conceded quite a few soft goals with mistakes in the def which Whites pounced on with relish. Brendan was on fire that day and all his touches were sublime....also he revealed the Achilles heel of our defensive strong man who rarely lets anyone he is marking past him, the high ball....exquisite first touch to guide the balls in. Whites did well and grew in confidence and withered along with the rain But they did enough to prevent a Red comeback. I didn't realise that Issac scored 2 goals...well done!
