Fortunately the weather was good and game went on.
Game started with Whites and Reds exchanging goals, every time one team scored, the other replied. 4-4 half way through the game (For Whites: 3 goals by Jeremiah, 1 by Rai; For Reds: 3 goals by Derian, 1 by Daniel).
Some sloppy defending by whites allowed the Reds to lead 6-4 (Derian and Daniel scoring). Delon, showing why he was an inter-varsity goalkeeper in his younger days, made 3 or 4 good saves to keep the Whites in the game. At that point, I think the reds thought they had done enough.
Undaunted, whites showed spirit, clawed 2 goals back to equalize (Delon headed home from a chip by Rai to finish off a neat team move, Jeremiah scored the other).
Last 2 goals was called.
Jeremiah smashed in a ball that ricochet-ed off Rai (I didn't really bother who claimed the goal, I was just glad my team scored), Whites lead 7-6.
Daniel equalized with a well taken goal after a good pass from Derian.
Game ended 7-7. The score reflected a very even game. Both teams played their socks off and I think neither deserved to lose.
Daniel and Derian were the Red's stand-out performers, linking up well, scoring 3 and 4 goals respectively.
Jeremiah was clinical for the Whites, converting half chances (scoring 4/5 goals in the process), and had great off-the-ball movement. I think the only shot he missed was when he almost blasted the ball into his own goal while defending a corner. Keith marshalled the defence well.
A well-balanced, competitive game that I thoroughly enjoyed. Fully justifies the quick sign up rate (14 slots fully taken up 45 minutes after the post was put up - I think that might be a record).
