Jon's ok with the line ups. No response from Damian, but as Bryan had some concerns, I let Jon and Bryan discuss for a bit, and Bryan agreed to leave the line ups as is. I'll let Bryan be captain then. He requested white, so:
I believe the final score was 5-4 to the white team. It was 4-0 at one point, so kudos to the reds who fought back. I think Kydd was instrumental in the fight back, orchestrating the attacks from midfield and keeping possession. Jake was always a threat and kept us busy as well. Whites didn't have an out and out striker, and I did the best I could. I was no target man, nor was I a "fred" type striker. Reds fought that out pretty quickly, and managed to snuff out the goal threats.
On a side note, now everyone can stop bitching about my blades.... I finally saved enough money from writing match reports, being match selector and captain to buy a decent pair.... Also part of the reason why I was kind of crap today

LOL Kelvin! Nice report! Actually thanks for investing in those boots, as evident from yesterday, not having blades did not slow you down one bit.
Whites streaked off to a 4-0 lead with blistering attacks from all parts of the pitch. Darren scored the first screamer from outside of the D after beating 2 players down the center. With many ball players like Kelvin, Darren, Manish and Simon, Red defence had their hands full trying to contain. At one point, Whites were just taking their time camped outside the Red D and passing it around with Red defenders scrambling from 1 player to another....
Fortunately, we managed to turn things around with some tactical swaps and it was interesting to note that not having an out and out striker could still actually WORK! When Gerard dropped to Goalie, Graham initially moved up to take his place but when Red D was getting overwhelmed by Whites attacks, he dropped back to a more central/defence position. From there we shifted the game around to getting more possession around midfield, and allowing Kydd to do his thing....he started combining well with Jake whose quick feet caused many heart stopping moments for Red def. Also, another change was when Raj moved out of central defence position with me taking over, allowing him to become a sort of a wing-back on the right side, this freed up Jake to make the diagonal runs while Raj brought the ball up on his own. All of this combined to allow our midfield players to turn into rotating strikers with Kydd scoring a brace with his powerful, curling shots from outside the D and Jake and Raj too!
Reds sensed victory when they levelled at 4-4 and started upping the pressure and Whites started to crack at the seams (which was indicated by some of the shouting going on)...however alas, at 5.05, I made a booboo pass to Kydd in the middle of the pitch and I can't remember who intercepted it easily and went on and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner....all that work on the comeback destroyed in that moment!
After that freak goal, Reds were anxious to play the 'last ball' but understandably, some of the White players indicated that the other team was already there and wanted to end it....
Fun and interesting game with contrasting styles....
