Apart from Ling Chong and Chris F, the rest haven't been very regular of late, so I will suggest line ups after 4 pm tomorrow. However, as all the players have played at least 10 games in the current 6-month period, or at least 40 games over the past 3 games, I have included all the players in the team captain poll.
No votes in the poll, so the player on each team with the most number of games in the current 6 month period can be captain. That would be Ling Chong for Team 1 (31 games) and Gerard for Team 2 (43 games).
It was an incredible night of drama at The Cage. Reds wasted no time in establishing a 3-0 lead inside 10 minutes and it looked ominous for Whites who were probably playing better than the scoreline suggested. When Whites finally pulled a goal back, Reds replied and the teams were locked at 4-2 for a long period. Then on 30 mins, Paul lost a contact lens when the ball hit him in the eye as it was being cleared from the Whites' penalty area and he had to leave the pitch for attention. As this was a classic 5 v 4 scenario, we adopted the "score only after penalty line" rule; the handicap, however, was unable to prevent Whites from levelling at 4-4.
Paul returned on the 38-min mark - still without his contact lens - and immediately made an impact by scoring a volley from the halfway line. This galvanized Reds who then stormed into a 8-5 lead with 10 mins to play. Whites didn't let their heads drop and still seemed to have plenty of running in them; their perseverance paid off when they equalized at 8-8 with 2 mins to go. In the final minute, Whites incredibly took the lead for the first time in the match a goal from the tightest of angles. Shorty after this, Reds conceded a penalty which Whites despatched to win 10-8.
