The line-up was posted and there were some rumblings on the team selection with Whites seemingly to have a stronger team than the Reds. Nonetheless, no further changes were made to the line up. Remarkably only one person dropped out from the game which is Au, who I believe did not managed to win the cup in the super-advanced newly released Fifa 15 he bought last week.
Whites started with good composure, holding and knocking the ball very well from side to side and up and down. Opportunities were crafted nicely and they raced to a 3 - nil lead. Chen Hong must have had kaya-butter toast before the game I think to let the first goal in. With the lead and seemingly having a firm grip on the game, Whites slacked and Reds raised their game. Shawn was a constant threat and soon Reds scored their first goal. Whites kept to their game but reds managed to get another to bring it to 3-2. Whites then managed to open a 2-goal lead again and made it 5-3. At this point, some changes to the team formation on Reds and creeping lacked of discipline and purposeful running from Whites allowed Reds to put in 3 consecutive goals; equalizing at 5-5.
Stares, glances and a bit of barking from the Whites started - asking to keep the discipline and they were soon rewarded. Huffed and puffed, both the teams put in a lot of effort. Whites had a bit more legs and desire, with strategy was to keep shwaun checked as he was the main thread and channel to ease the pressure on reds. With that settled, Whites raced forward with a few more goals and opening up 3 goal lead again. Reds mustered a response but not as strong as when they got the 5-5 equalizer. Final score was 10-7 to the Whites.
We also welcome back Rai who got 2 goals and Francis from his foot injury who put a good performance outfield (much to be desired in goal ).
Thanks for the game everyone.
* The lights were only turned on 10 mins later, credit to the Offside, they did not shut it off on the dot but personally I prefer starting early so have longer talk-cock session.
