Overall, a skilful game played in good spirits.
Reds took a 3-0 lead early on, and held a three goal lead up to 5-2, before whites came back to lead 6-5. Reds regained the lead at 7-6 before Whites equalised with the last action of the game at 10 minutes past 6. Final score: 7-7.
There were two sliding tackles (one from each side) and two high boot (one from each side). Both sliding tackles were within the D, and would have been excellent tackles in a 11-a-side game, but our rules don't allow sliding tackles. We need to remember to stay on our feet and control the impulse to slide - especially those who play or have played 11-a-side football. No penalties were called or given for either tackle.
The high boots were more dangerous, and both were "punished" by a goal being conceded as play continued, including the last goal of the game.
Joel reacted angrily to the last incident when he got caught on the ear as he headed the ball on, but he has had more than his fair share of serious knocks over the last few weeks, and he was more philosophical about it by the time he left.
I continue to remind everyone - no sliding tackles or high boots.
At 2-5 down, Ade leapt to head away a cross, and collided with own his team mate Salman - you can guess who came out of that worse. Salman was shaken and winded for about 3 or 4 minutes, but when play resumed, Whites had their best spell, pulling back to lead 6-5 - perhaps Reds were distracted by the collision.
A couple of body
Overall, a good game, and fortunately, we did not allow the above incidents to spoil the game.
