One new and several less regular players, so I will suggest line ups after noon tomorrow. I've added the team captain poll. I'll include all regulars, other than those who have specifically opted out as captain (in addition to opting out as selector).
A highly entertaining game full of quality from both sides. Whites started the better team, and peppered the reds goal in the opening 5 minutes but frustratingly found Foo Cheong in his usual inspired Peter Bonetti (The Cat) form, saving 5-6 good chances! This Goal keeping heroics would be a feature of the Reds game through out the match with Lynz and FC again!
Reds hit back and started to run the game for the next 10-15 minutes as whites struggled to contain the likes of Lynz, Jake, Mayo, TW et al. Mayo scored against me to open the scoring. Reds continued to control the match and scored 2 further strikes to open a 3 nil lead. Whites were shell shocked and in a bit of a mess. However we re-grouped and kept fighting and soon took back control of the game, creating the majority of chances, eventually clawing back to 3-3, although a lot more could have been scored had it not been for red goalkeeping!
Reds again took the lead against the run of play & after some inter team squabbling about positions after sloppy defensive play undid the hard work of the Whites team to lead 4-3. Whites continued to play their game and style of football & were creating chances at will. They leveled the match at 4-4 and then started to convert the fantastic build up play that had been evident through out the match to open up a 7-4 lead. That is how the game ended and it was a deserved fighting win on the balance of play and chances but given the players on the Red side it was always going to be a battle. Good game all.
