Reds took the game 4-1. It was a rather even game until the 30 mins mark where it was 0-0 for the longest time and then Reds struck first. Whites equalised through a brilliant solo effort from Melvin running off a quick counter and dribbling himself into space and a strong shot on target.
However, after that Whites seemed to loose the plot abit in midfield with Gerard casting an isolated figure up-front without much service. Kel and Mel played their hearts out as usual but couldn't change the outcome with stout defending by Kien and Shaiful.
Reds had a good game with a freak goal when Senthil ran up for a cross with Andrew challenging, however both missed the header and the ball bounced past them and Calvin (goalie) into the goal....
Calvin had a good defending game in the first half cutting out many dangerous runs by the usual suspects, Elvin, Zak and Sivaraj. Elvin also did not disappoint in scoring the 3rd goal from the narrowest of angles with Kong and myself in front of him but his well placed powerful low shot to the bottom right corner had 3 of us (including Andrew (goalie) beat!! Arghhh!!
Whites on the other hand had a bad day in front of goal and were unable to get past the Red defense who did very well.
Oops thanks Elvin, had it the other way around...you are right. It is interesting in the line-up strategy that has evolved from choosing all the most talented individual players to player who can gel together...a bit like the Fifa15 game i am playing currently. Putting Ronald, Messi, Neymar, Suarez and Costa all in the same team did not really get me the best results....there is this element called chemistry....but thats why its fun in Giffa with different players in the mix everytime.
Midfield maestro pairing of the Au brothers was quite tiring though closing on them for the Reds towards the end of game. If not for kien shouting I think reds will just shut off. Everyone held to their positions well. Awesome. Karthi is causing problems down the left flank with timely low crosses to his team mates. All in all a good weekend workout. Nice write up Damian. Hope to be joining more for Sunday sessions or Saturday.
