Team selectors are Marko and Shawn. They have agreed on the following (as posted on the WhatsApp group chat at 4.10 pm):
Whites: Marko, Jeff, Gilbert, Jacko, Kelvin, Brandon, Ben Reds: Shawn, Sean, Rai, Keith, Derian, Ling Cong, George
Everyone, please be early.
It rained quite persistently from about 4 pm to 8 pm. Although it stopped, the pitch was quite waterlogged, as reported on the WhatsApp group chat before the game started. Hopefully, the water dissipated over the coursse of the game.
After the game, please post reports and comments on the game below.
I thought I was going to play football but didn't expect to do a bit of water polo as well. Should have brought my bathers. The middle-left of the pitch and the front of goal at one end was a bit damp, the rest of it was playable. The rain stopped, which was welcomed.
The game started slowly as players had to adjust to the speed of the ball over the wet areas. This also restricted play to the middle and right side, reducing the amount of space usually available on a fine day. Whites struggled a bit trying to link passes and shoot on wet patches and Reds opened their account from a deflected shot from long range. They added another 2 more before Whites found a quick reply. Then on, goals were traded between the two teams with Whites at one point scoring 3 in quick succession. Towards the end, with Reds trailing by one, a lapse of concentration helped Whites concede 2 late goals for a Red win by one. Final score I think is 6 - 5.
I thought Brandon did a great job with his work rate and by causing headaches for the Red defence. The rest of the old guards were performing to their usual standards but a few should aim to improve their game sense and technical form.
Until my next game, here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
Eventful night of futsal which almost didnt happen (credit to everyone for turning up despite the heavy downpour & light drizzle prior to kickoff) capped with some very nice goals (Marko's goal from an almost impossible angle, Keith's beautiful "lob" goal direct off a freekick from distance, Jeff's double header KOs and Sean's 4 goals heroic to end a wet (really wet) cold night of good fun & workout.
Marko's goal reminded me of Kanu's last goal against Chelsea back in 1999.
Topsy turvy game with both sides taking turns to lead. This has got to be one of the best Monday Macpherson game for me even with the less than ideal pitch conditions.
Reds were always confused of the formation we were playing but managed to sort it out in the end with Rai taking the Defensive Mid role.
For the 4th consecutive game, George put in a good shift down the right flank with well-timed tackles and always running to make space for teammates, Well-deserved Macpherson Player-of-the-Month Sean, putting in a "Frank Lampard" display gets my vote for the MOTM.
Merry X'mas all! More exciting games in 2015!
