Game or no game...That was the main question of the evening as the players were chatting anxiously on the WhatsApp group as rain was looming. Jessen was helpfully providing live updates of the weather at khalsa until sean finally made the captain's call and said "game on!".
And so the players stayed filtering in and the game was started at about 5min into 9pm.
Reds started off the stronger side with 5 players familiar from playing the last decade.
Whites however was the team that drew first blood. Jacko was the no. 1 nuisance to the reds defence with his razzle dazzle display. His quick feet proved too much of a feat to the reds defence as they went on to take a 1 nil lead. Whites were stunned but not out as they launched a tirade of shots on the whites goal. The Batman/Robin combination of derian/wilson reaped it's rewards as they rolled back the years with a nice one-two in which wilson cooly slotted past the keeper.
It was a comedy of errors that led to whites taking the lead again as Jessen and soon leong were lost in the game of "I thought you thought". In the end both thought each would go for the ball and it landed nicely on tan wee'ss feet. He must have thought that it was his lucky day and gleefully put the ball home.
The game went on a see saw run, though reds were for most parts, dominant and looked comfortable once they took the lead with goals coming from Derian(biggest loser contender 1), kelvin (biggest loser contender 2) and soon Leong.
Sean and Jacko were not to be outdone as they grasped control of a midfield. They out ran and out maneovered daniel who was struggling on his own to counter the two main threats from whites. The game for most parts was quite evenly matched out until reds started to tire and whites eventually managed to overturn the 6-5 scoreline to 10-6.
Derian provided match ball.
