I received a call from the Premier Pitch @ Grandstand on Saturday (9 May 2015) to inform me that the pitch is not available in two weeks time (Saturday, 23 May 2015), as the owners have booked the pitch for a whole day event that day.
The alternative for that day is a 7-a-side pitch at Premier Pitch @ Khalsa. As the 7-a-side pitch there is uncovered, 5 to 6 pm may be too hot, so I have booked 6 to 7 pm instead.
From asking around to fill up the places, I get a sense a lot of the regulars aren't playing because of the one-off change in venue, which is entirely due to the regular pitch being unavailable the whole day.
To "incentivise" this game for regulars, for the game on 30 May 2015, I will reserve places for the first 48 hours after the schedule thread goes up on Monday morning for those who remain on the list for this game.
Everyone down so far is a regular, whether of the Saturday game or other games, so there shouldn't be any concerns about the standard of the game.
The game started fairly evenly, Reds twice taking the lead, Whites twice levelling.
At 2-2, Reds failed to take some great chances, including a couple of open goals, one of which came at the end of a great passing move. However, with 3 players consistently in Whites' half, there were warning signs for Reds, for whenever Whites counter-attacked, they managed to get an extra man forward to outnumber the Reds defence. With Christian upfront, constantly on the move pulling the Reds' defender one way or the other, or pulling away to get the pass and shot off, Whites pulled ahead 6-2.
Reds re-grouped, and pulled back to 6-4, and then the scoring proceeded as follows (Whites' score first):
Close to the hour, last goal was called, which Whites grabbed for the win. Whites deserved the win, with having more of the regulars giving them the edge.
