The trend of losing for the pals continues for yet another week. I've actually lost count of how many weeks we've lost already. Gotta refer to the previous match reports for the actual count.
Anyway enough of the grumbling and back to the report...
The start of the intriguing encounter was during the team selection. Sean and derian were coming up with various permutations to decide on the teams for their sides. In the end, sean finally relented and agreed to derians suggestion.
And so the game started. Soon Leong came a little late and whites started with 6 men. They were absorbing the pressure pretty well and had a few threatening moments in front of goal. The score stood at nil nil when soon leong came in and started in goal.
Whites took the lead thru Andy? Can't really remember how the goal went in. But whites definitely took the lead, as always with the pals team. Reds fought back with a nicely taken goal that saw Delon unmarked at the far post and he did his usual by finishing in a clinical fashion. Delon has been one of the more impressive players for the past few weeks with his pace, strength and off the ball running.
Whites scrambled and tried and managed to get another goal to make the score 2-1. At this point the game still seemed pretty balanced. But then that also seemed to have woken the sleeping giant in reds as they put 4 goals past whites without much challenge. Derian was guilty of a few amateurish display in between the posts, letting in 3 from his term as goalie.
Whites tried to launch a fightback as they pressed reds to concede a 3rd. Just when they thought they could use this as a platform to launch a comeback, reds immediately shut out any thought of a fightback and put another 2 past them.
Whites seemed demoralised as the scoreline widened to 9-3 at one point in time. Jacko was not his usual energetic self and Paul probably forgot his shooting boots as his shots were going everywhere except into the goal.
Whites finally managed to conjure up their 3rd wind, so to speak and tried again to fight back to make the scoreline 9-6 with some nice goals from Andy and Paul(freaking finally haha).
Yet again, reds seemed to be in the mood to crush opponents spirits as they put another past the hapless whites. Last goal was called and whites managed a consolation to make the scoreline a respectable 10-7.
Defeats hurt...but multiple defeats has a numbing effect...and whites seemed resigned to their fates. The quarrels and arguments have died down considerably, probably aided by the fact that wilson wasn't around to piss the crap out of cy. And so, yet another week and yet another loss...when will the rot stop? Pals are becoming more and more like Newcastle. ..till next week then.
Our first goal was when I read Ray is going to pass back to Kien and I cut in between them and shot first time as the ball rolled in between as anticipated. Naz's view was blocked by Kien and stood rooted as the ball rolled in.
