Whites: Gerard, Paul, Augustine, Kodaka, Rainer, Naz, Kien Reds: Sean, Jessen, Daniel, Derian, Andy, Gow, Ray
Basically, Reds are either play at Khalsa on Wednesdays or are longer term players at Khalsa on Wednesdays instead of weekends of the Grandstand. Whites have been playing as much or more at the weekends at the Grandstand.
After the game, please post reports and comments on the game below.
Back by popular demand yer not as inspired as last week to do his usual stuff...
Sean and Gerard won the popularity vote for captains and sean posted the teams on the group chat.
It was almost like Sunday regulars vs Wednesday regulars although the likes of naz, Rainer, Kien and Paul etc have all become familiar faces for Wednesday games. Paul did mention on the group chat saying that reds should probably give whites a five goal headstart which was disputed by derian saying that the teams were fairly evenly matched given that the superiority of Daniel n sean were evened out by the quickness of Kodaka and Rainer.
Rain, again, threatened, but eventually all was good to go at 9pm. And so the game started without much of a hoo-ha. Whites took a surprising 2-0 lead despite the initial pressure from reds. Kodaka and Rainer got into the thick of the action early on in the game. Paul was in his usual attacking mood, marauding down the right flank. Kien started in his usual center half for whites and in his unusual tight tights, as commented by his captain, Gerard.
Reds were finding the going tough in front of goal, even though they were creating numerous scoring opportunities. It finally took a messy move in front of the D, with sean finishing off the move with his trademark shot that arrowed to the top right corner. Andy was lively in front of goal and got a second anD equalising goal for reds with a simple tap in.
Whites again restored their 2 goal cushion and the goal of the game came from Kodaka. Picking a loose ball up on the right flanks, he used his quick feet to moved the ball a little more and thundered his right footer shot into the top left corner of the goal that totally left ray with no chance in goal. That goal took the air out from reds who were looking to come back after being down 3-2.
Yet they continued huffing and puffing, creating chance after chance which derian and ray being the main culprit of the misses. Chance after chance went begging and time after time derian n ray fluffed their chances. It didn't seem like it was going to happen for reds until Andy decided to take matters into his own hands and made a mazy run that ended in a goal off his right boot to the bottom corner. Another break saw rays shot deflecting into derian's path and into goal.
And just when reds thought they had turned the corner, whites responded again to make the scoreline 5-4.
Reds, not to be outdone, went on a spree with goals coming from Jessen, sean and Andy to turn the see saw game around.
Final score was 9-6. A not so inspiring report from a not so inspired columnist, sitting in his company toilet bowl and using his companys time to earn his $2 match report.
