Game started with 1 man short on the Reds team as Sivaraj was late or so we thought. We eventually found out that he misplaced his car keys and wallet when we saw his message after the game had ended.
The game carried on, nevertheless as whites took advantage of the 1 additional by controlling possession in midfield and kept the pressure on reds. A mix up in defence saw the reds keeper misjudge a high ball in which the ever alert rainer pounced on and slid the ball under the legs of the keeper. 1 nil to whites.
Reds quickly brought the game back to level terms with a goal from Wilson that gave reds some hope that a result could still be achieved despite being 1 man down. Wilson carried on his red hot streak with another finish after sloppy passing at the back in which he stole the ball off from the defenders and powered the ball into the bottom right corner. It was long before eddie made it 3-1 to reds with his nimble feet despite him being the oldest member of the pitch by turning Dev on the left flank before putting the ball into the net.
Not to be outdone, Whites mustered up another goal to bring the scoreline to 3-2. Wilson had 1 clear chance to bring the 2 goal cushion back to reds, but that time round, his finishing had forsaken him and he put the ball meekly to the side that was miles away from goal. The scored remained that way for most of the game until the last 5 minutes of the game as the team with 1 man less started to tire and gaps started to open up in the tired midfield and defence. Whites found the opening and levelled the score 3 apiece before Paul put cracker of a shot to finish the game 4-3 to whites.
Nice game guys. Real tiring to play with 1 man down but still a nice tactical game with lots of running and passing.
Thanks guys good game, reds did very well to make a game of it despite being one man short. Tactic of long balls up to Wilson and the Mids picking up the scraps worked a treat. But eventually we just ran out of legs. Ball credit, please.
Valiant effort by all members of reds who played hard despite a man down. Rockstar and I agreed at the start that we play by the usual rules instead of shooting in the box for whites. That sure made the game more interesting and fun. Credit to Wilson, Derian and Cedric who ran tirelessly for 55minutes pressurizing white's possession and picking up the midfield scraps. Against a Rainer and Darren combi in midfield sure wasn't easy.
For the record, Sunday players seems to be more punctual than the wed games at Khalsa. Nevertheless, would really appreciate a heads up to the chat group or Rajiv should any player cannot make it. I think we had a good 2-3 players on he wait list.
P/s : have a good trip Eddie and see you again - hopefully in less than a year's time. Your goal was class.
