As there are several new or less regular players, I will suggest line ups after 4 pm. I've added the team captain poll. I've limited it to those who have played at least 15 games in the current 6 month period or 60 games over the past 3 years. I'll discuss line ups with the two captains. As Dennis has put down 4 other names, I'll add him to the discussion.
Great match of two matches! 3-3 on the small pitch then 6-5 to reds on the big pitch.
We kicked off with 6 a side and Teik was on form slotting two great goals for Reds. A great header levelled at 3 each before we changed pitch when a couple of visitors asked to join, Sam and Tomas.
A much wider open game naturally ensued on the big pitch with whites going one up from range. Reds equalised from a corner and a number of defensive areas saw reds fall behind again. Reds continued to battle scoring again from the middle with Sam playing a key role in midfield supplying plenty of good passes to the strikers.
Whites edged ahead late on with Steffen seizing an opportunity from wide when Teik went walkabout in goal but Reds regrouped late on fast-breaking with good passing resulting in Dennis and Raphael scoring to make it 6-5.

Amazing game last night - Tues' night games are usually controversial - especially when I am involved - however last night was not only uncontroversial but we enjoyed a little bonus of having been invited to the big pitch (by 2 new Englishmen) because their team didnt turn up.
At that stage, reds and whites were 3-3 a piece - first I believe Steffen put the whites 1-0 as the Reds were still gathering rhythm / warming up and what nots....
I was still lumbering up and stretching my limbs and Mike (Keith)was still getting familiar with the team too.
In all honesty, on paper, I knew we were in for a tough night seeing the line up - the reds were a bunch of old fogeys some who have not played with each other for ages, notwithstanding one of us had just bought a $142 new turf shoe - creaking bones and bulging waistlines were not exactly reassuring sight against Steffen, Neil and old stalwarts like Azmi, Bobby and Peminder. Granted Alvin was an unknown to me, and I hands to heart totally underestimated him. He was a deadly slippery eel - Alvin - I mean that as a compliment buddy - so dont associate yourself with anything Japanese when I say that please - you are an excellent player - full of movement and touch, so I would be delighted to play with you again - hopefully on same side next time.
So when Steffen plummeted his goal, I just figured we were in for a long night!
Then Teik stepped up. Those who dont know Teik - he's a ghost from the past - like Raj - except last night - Teik scuffed his first shot and equalised - then he scored his second through a trap, a chest control and a half volley into the roof of the net which surprised even the whites keeper! he cheered his goal with the broadest silly grin one will ever see from Teik! Old times perhaps?
Raphael was not finding his touch on the smaller pitch and losing the ball, we were getting annoyed -he was strangely not on his game we thought.
By then, the whites had already raced to a 3-2 lead through some really slack defending and good set piece play - and as Ian robbed the ball off Neil - and played it off to me, he hollered for me to let loose and I duly obliged - surpising to see the ball nestle in the top left hand corner of the whites goal - so we were 3-3 a piece and moved to the 8 a side pitch with our new found friendlies.
Sam from London was in our team while they had Thomson - (in barca kit) and Sam in Arsenal top. We played Sam in midfield and he was pulling the strings for us the whole night.
Raphael was still finding his range and lest any one of you start to snigger because you were often on the receiving end of his bullets, he was "zeroing" his shots to find the sweet spot - I will elaborate on this later in the section "Goals like these break hearts"
Thomson was a real magician for the whites in midfield and I always knew Steffen was the real dangerman in the whites team but I didnt expect Alvin to be such a slippery customer - he was doing his own version of pirouettes and off the ball moves and we were finding it so hard to contain the reds.
It didnt help that Ian and Raj contrive to miss a sitter 1 m from goal with both going for the same cut back from Sam's meandering dribble!
Raphael had helped keep us in the game but we were trailing 3-4 and then Teik went into goal and he left a gaping hole in the near post and Steffen just simply slammed one into the near post.
Our jaws dropped in disbelief as we couldnt believe that Teik had just sold us a sarong?!!
honestly our heads dropped and despite Sam and everyone's valiant attempts - the big pitch was proving to be our undoing and we couldnt cope with Thomson's jinking runs, Alvin's slippery moves and Steffen's robust efforts.
I was putting in crunching tackles, Mike and Teik was running on empty - Ian was woeful on a night when we needed his leadership but his shots were all miscued. Raj was trying hard to show his new footwear was worth its value! I was shouting at Teik for his sloppy passes because he was letting fatigue get to him - had no more words left for Ian - he was trying hard but had 2 left limbs last night and couldnt buy a goal even if they were for sale at a quid each....
"Goals Like These Break Hearts"
Raphael was as frustrated as I was - seeing how tired the whole team were - Sam was running as much and was colossus in midfield but we were all old and creaking all except Ralph...
He offered to go into goal after teik's awful debut in goal - but I ushered him away and said I needed his legs and his cannons....
he probably got a boost from that and when one of the whites counterattack broke down off a poor pass from peminder, mike slid the ball to ralph, he shifted it pass Thomson and Bobby, and rifled it home! from the midway line.
You could see the look on their faces - them whites - crestfallen and dampened -
that's when the phrase came to me - that is a goal that breaks hearts!
yes! as I bellowed that battle cry and congratulated Ralph - because it brought us to 4-5.
Then he fired off another two in quick succesion (breaking more hearts in the process) one of which plundering a quick goal directly off a corner which rebounded from Steffen's bewildered look and into goal.
Then Ralph did some rare surprisingly good defensive work, laid the ball off to Sam in midfield, somehow I had legs to support the attack upfront - Sam amazingly stood firm off a tackle from Azmi as if he was strawman, and unselfishly laid the ball off to me as I fired into an empty net with the keeper well beaten!
Ralph had won us the game with his heartbreaking goals - and Sam had the plaudits for his thunderous display in midfield !
I was just good for bellowing at everyone else and being my usual jarring self on the pitch!
It feels good to be back.
the game ended 7-5 to the reds. 3-3 on the small pitch but we reset the scores on the 8 aside pitch.
sorry whites for the one sided report - could only see the game through my tinted lens - it was a night when the underdogs barked their way to victory!
those who want to enjoy games with character and spirit - come on tuesdays - controversy not guaranteed but efforts are never found wanting!
