Reds: Sean, Delon, Keith, Jacko, Reuben, Jeff, Ray Whites: Derian, Dan, Dav, Jessen, Alex, Naz, Andy
There was some worry by a couple of players on the haze conditions on game day. Rains from the day before and early afternoon helped the overall conditions and game was on with the PSI reading ranging from 80-100 that evening. As uncertain as the haze, Sean was the most punctual player that evening with the rest of the players trickling in by around 8.50pm. Reuben appeared in his away Blue strip that evening, and Derian kindly lent him his Man U jersey to keep the team colors in sync.
Reds started off the sharper team and knocked in 2 early goals in the first 5 minutes. The first being scored from a goal kick by Sean which ended up in the back of the net after poor communication between the whites’ defenders and keeper. Whites managed to pull one back in as many minutes as followed but from then on, it was the Delon show. Reds went on to score another 5 goals stretching the score to 7-1 by halftime led by Delon in attack. Whites did have their chances but a resolute reds defence comprising of Jeff and Keith denied several shots on target by whites.
A tough mountain to climb for whites from here on. Whites’s Capt Courageous decided to take matters into his own hands and started to push the team further up the pitch. Lots of lungless running by the 3Ds – David, Derian and Daniel soon saw their efforts pay off after a goal by David sparked off the white’s comeback. 5 minutes before regulation time, white’s managed to pull the score back to 7-6. Reds scored another to bring the score to 8-6 and whites didn’t give up the fight to close it at 8 a-piece. 2 more goals were called to break the deadlock and after 1.5hrs of relentless running by both sides, the game ended with a final score of 9-9. I think we could have gone on to play a bit more if not for an unintentional cosmetic injury to Jacko.
Delon – man of the match with 6 goals and 1 assist.
