I discussed line ups with Jessen and Peminder. I raised the alternatives of keeping friends together, or mixing it up. They went with keeping friends together, with one swap. They didn't respond to my suggestion for another change. Instead, they proceeded to post the line ups on the WhatsApp group chat.
They also agreed on colours. So we have:
Whites: Peminder (c), Kien, Jake, Cathal, Ben Horn, Ben Backx, Jon Stratton, Nazriee Reds: Jessen (c), Wilson, Kelvin Au, Rockstar, Karthi, Sivaraj, Senthil, Stuart Lee
Everyone, please be early.
After the game, please post reports and comments on the game below.
The lineups were vastly mismatched in my opinion. I had no idea who half the players were, so couldn't comment on the proposed lineups when they came out. However it was pretty clear within 10 mins into the game that Whites had all the skill and running. It was going to be a long afternoon. I stopped counting the score at 430pm. I believe it was about 6-2 then. Whites went on to score at least another 4-5 more. It must have been double digits to 2 or 3 goals for Reds.
One of the Ben's had a storming game. Everything he hit went in. The last goal was a peach. It was so good we decided to call it a day when his first time volley (ala Benteke) slammed into the roof of the net. We stopped on the dot.
Senthil was injured, but couldn't stay in goal. We were 7v8 for about 20 mins from 4.30pm.
Generally whites were the stronger team with several 5 of Jake's friends including himself having played together and knew each other well. Peminder requested for another Sunday regular (Kien) to be in his team and I agreed. This resulted in whites having a very strong defence and potent attack.
Thought slightly imbalanced, I did not think it was overly skewed.
The difference was amplified after Senthil was injured and could not even stand in goal. Final score I believe was 9-4 or 10-4 to whites ( I hope I did not short change them)
